So contrary to common belief First Nations people did not scalp as it was not a tradition of any sort nor was their any monetary compensation to them that was derived from scalping. After decades of having their people suffer to the Scalp Bounty Law, the Natives took up this practice as a shock factor during it's guerrilla war campaign against the American Army.
