While taking a break from your writing, try acting out the characters. Brings insight into how they talk, act, etc.

Also helps to burn the character into your mind. Might provide additional descriptors to use while writing.

Really, whats your problem buddy? Do you know her so well that you make such comments? No? Then you shouldn't say shit like that. From what I've seen of her threads , there are not many. She 's just joined over a year ago. It takes time for a newbie to learn the GLP mindset, and I really don't think you should go around with your judgmental cowardly shit.
Cowardly because she's registered, while you hide behind a mask. Give us a list of threads YOU have made, and that will give us the chance to judgementalise your ass too. You don't like the thread, get the f**k away from it. No one's forcing you to read.

I have enjoyed and even helped in your threads in the past by giving you pieces of information that you have really appreciated. I didn't realise you were on the payroll though.

I haven't seen those ISON threads. I skipped all threads with ISON on it. Call it intuition. So I wouldn't know what the 'payroll' is that you talk of. I came in here only because I too am learning to write fiction. Im also doing a course on fiction writing. My presence here is so I can pick up some stuff. So, thank you for coming and contributing on my threads, but I really don't know what you're refering to.

wow - all the haters seem to come out today.
I guess i must have made this today's list in the shill workload. it is pretty obvious when several of them all decide to attack at once. It is either one hater with a lot of accounts/ips, or a lot of haters with a single agenda.

So my dilemma today is: i am not sure i am in the mood for great writing. Do I take the day off and hopefully come back tomorrow with good work, or do i plod through, not caring if it is mediocre and just fix it in second draft? hmmmmm.

sadly, no screen shot update today.Only wrote a few hundred words. Just wasn't my day to write i guess, and every one needs a day off now and then. Not even a week has passed and i have made great progress. Not bragging. Just trying to convince myself that missing a day is not a sign of trouble, haha. I will be back at it tomorrow evening, and i will just have to type up two days' worth!!

Here's me horsing around. Just seeing what I could come up with with a "It was a dark and stormy night" kind of beginning!! Lol.

-------------------- CHAPTER 1 --------------------

It was a dark and stormy night. Susan crossed the forty yards from the depot to her car, as she hurried to get inside the warmth of her car. She slammed the door shut, removed her gloves, and rubbed her hands , feeling the heat slowly spread across her palms. She was afraid of storms, and preferred to avoid travelling outside during one. The power was out in the north of the city, and she could see the light above the town beyond that , giving it an ethereal sort of frame. She switched on her music deck, and it continued to play the same song she was listening to when she had arrived here at the depot. As the tunes began to fill the silence of the car, she began to relax a little more.
She started the engine up, and pointed her car towards exit 91 , and settled down to the drive back home. She always liked the hypnotic effect of the calm drive, toward the end of the day , when all that lay before here was dinner, some wine, and a peaceful nights sleep. But there was something today, at the back of her mind, that told her things were not going to be the same. She wondered for a moment about it, then discarded the thought , putting it down to tiredness.

Husband? yours? wow you have really good imagination. Will be waiting for your book for sure. I believe everyone else will be waiting for it to be published too.. a book from someone who was a graphic designer who become into amateur astrophsycist and finnally a writer? How amazing its like a game where you can change your profession after certain levels of failure.

It was a dark and stormy night. Susan crossed the ninety yards from the depot to her car in a minute, as she hurried to get inside the warmth of her car. First of all, best of luck. It's a real adventure. I know why you can't get 'over the hump'.

First I'd like for you to consider a change in paradigm regarding your approach to your writing...

If writing is work, you're not a writer.

If you love your world, your characters, and your story, you'll want to visit them.

Often people get mired in the false idea that if you write it perfectly the first time, you won't ever have to work on it again. Nothing is farther from the truth.

In the first draft rip into that story. Don't stop to correct typos. Forget grammar. Capture the emotion of the moment, even if you're the only one who will understand what you mean.

Second drafts, thirds... that's when the literary 'work' comes in.

I'd guess that you are writing 'tight' because you know that your husband is going to want to read the moment you get a chapter out. It's that 'pressure to be perfect' that's taking the fun out of the story-telling for you. Remove that pressure and you'll write like a bandit. Remind yourself that you'll be able to fix it in the edits... because you will have to edit. Plan on it. Heck, lean on the fact and let yourself tell the story!

I agree with much of what you said! I do force myself to ignore grammar mistakes. I think I have even left in a few sentence fragments too, lo. My husband knows i am not changing any of it until second draft. He just ignores the mistakes when he is reading now and focuses only on the story itself.
I did not mean to make it sound like it is too much work for me. I enjoy it and am compelled to do it.
I think the rest of life just gets in the way sometimes. my kids are only small, so they are big interrupters, lol. And i do still work at other jobs too. yesterday, things just did not work out in my favour!

A red karma I just received:
"If You Spent Just 10% Of Your Time Writing Your Novel Instead Of Being An Ass Licking Shill Witch, You'll Have Written a Trilogy By Now"

touche! they do have a (crudely expressed) point though. Time to get back at it, after flaking off last night. Minimum of one thousands words today - though two would be better! But since i am several thousand words ahead of my schedule, I wont stress too much about it. I can always tell when I am forcing the words just to hit a predetermined word count. The writing goes from being pleasing to read, to just robotic and lifeless.
well, here I go !

i did it, wrote two thousand words today! So totally made up for last night's lack of dedication.
They arent the best words in the book, and will likely need a lot of help in the revision, but they are there and that is all i care about!!

yeah, but in fairness, i had it all planned out yesterday, just never sat to write it. Fogrot Doran character was supposed to be in there - eep. will have to work him in in the next chapter. I think he is going to be a more important character than i had planned. not sure yet.
