no, my sweet husband isn't an ass or anything. But he knows how much i likes my glp. So, when I complained about not having the time to finally write this book I have been putting off, he kindly (and timidly) suggested that if I didn't spend so much time CT-porning, I would have the time needed to actually write.
 Quoting: green_girl

who loves you more "your husband", or GLP??

GLP OF COURSE!!!!!11 BANE HIM!!!!!

seriously - go on any ison thread and ask for a show of hands for who loves green girl. The number of rotten tomatoes thrown at you will be your answer!!!

but thanks! I will let my husband know he is pre-banned - that must be a first for glp

Love these as well

Most of these Stephen King quotes were taken from this book.

1. “Any word you have to hunt for in a thesaurus is the wrong word. There are no exceptions to this rule.”

 Quoting: Black Unit

I disagree with that one.....good for him but, I actively use a thesaurus with great results.

To each their own I guess.
 Quoting: --Voltaic--

That is a really good point! I can't say i use mine frequently, but i do use it. My thoughts on it are that is makes a great tool. Word repetition is bad in writing. Once you have used a word, and want to use it again in the same few paragraphs, you need to look to see if there is another way to say it. Substituting a word that way can save it. Sometimes I want to say something, only to look at it and realize it has been said exactly that way in a hundred other books, so i will want to look at changing it. A thesaurus is a great way to do it. Takes it from being a cliche.
On the other hand, i refuse to use the thesaurus to make myself look smart, lol. My writing has to be me, to a certain extent. If i am using my thesaurus to change up normal, every day words into their fancier counterparts, then my writing is no longer me, just who i wish i would be, lol.
So it has its uses, but i have a line i wont cross with it.
 Quoting: green_girl

Every intelligent person has a moment of education. If you use a thesaurus to look smart, you actually do learn new words and how to use them. Thus, making you smarter.

I always tell people, it isn't what you learn....it's how you learn that matters.

While taking a break from your writing, try acting out the characters. Brings insight into how they talk, act, etc.

Also helps to burn the character into your mind. Might provide additional descriptors to use while writing.

i agree, i do that when i can't write. usually in bed when i am falling asleep. The characters do mundane things that usually never make it into the written version. For several nights my main female just brushed her hair in the mirror, lol. i dont know why, that was just what my mind was focusing on. It gave me a strong feeling for what she looked like and how she viewed herself.

yes, yes. you have posted several times now and have made your point: no one likes me. I don't really care about popularity. One more rude comment like that and I will ban you. You have been officially bored, so don't get a new IP and come back here claiming censorship. Bad enough i have to put up with your ilk on the ison threads, you won't come into my tree house and do it here. But thanks for keeping my thread bumped.

true, and good point. Learning new words is a good exercise, but should be a minimum, at least in my style of writing. Mainly because I don't want my writing to seem unnatural or unlike my everyday speaking. To inject a lot of words that regular folk wouldn't know or use would not be true to my own voice. A few fancy words in a book is never a bad thing, but it is not a tool i would use throughout the book.

Really, whats your problem buddy? Do you know her so well that you make such comments? No? Then you shouldn't say shit like that. From what I've seen of her threads , there are not many. She 's just joined over a year ago. It takes time for a newbie to learn the GLP mindset, and I really don't think you should go around with your judgmental cowardly shit.
Cowardly because she's registered, while you hide behind a mask. Give us a list of threads YOU have made, and that will give us the chance to judgementalise your ass too. You don't like the thread, get the f**k away from it. No one's forcing you to read.

Keep going. The first time you do something , it always looks tuff. Visuallise yourself writing your tenth book. And keep the pace. Don't let go. Use the 'ONE THING' Rule. Which states that success is more likely if you concentrate on the ONE THING. Which is why writers seek special places to write.

I haven't seen those ISON threads. I skipped all threads with ISON on it. Call it intuition. So I wouldn't know what the 'payroll' is that you talk of. I came in here only because I too am learning to write fiction. Im also doing a course on fiction writing. My presence here is so I can pick up some stuff. So, thank you for coming and contributing on my threads, but I really don't know what you're refering to.

Trying to write a book a least. I almost died of heart failure waiting for my huband to read the first thirty pages last night - i wonder what kind of mental breakdown i will experience when i am waiting for publishers to read it??
I will never survive to see it in print - i just know it!

Keep going. The first time you do something , it always looks tuff. Visuallise yourself writing your tenth book. And keep the pace. Don't let go. Use the 'ONE THING' Rule. Which states that success is more likely if you concentrate on the ONE THING. Which is why writers seek special places to write.

good advice!
I try to visualize, but my mindset is still a little stuck in the " people like me can't publish a book - i am too ordinary and untalented" mentality. I don't think that is a hurdle that i can overcome by any other method besides just doing it and proving myself either right or wrong.

perhaps she could pretend to be a cheerleader for some sack of shit football team that is irrelevant and unwanted in the competition but hangs around like a bunch of sad egotistical fucktards

I have enjoyed and even helped in your threads in the past by giving you pieces of information that you have really appreciated. I didn't realise you were on the payroll though.

So, thank you for coming and contributing on my threads, but I really don't know what you're refering to.

that is their MO. They first attack me, then they attack people that stick up for me. If it was a registered user they would red k you for it. All designed to keep people like me segregated and make sure that as time goes on people will not be so willing to speak up for me. I have seen all their tricks lately, lol.

While taking a break from your writing, try acting out the characters. Brings insight into how they talk, act, etc.

Also helps to burn the character into your mind. Might provide additional descriptors to use while writing.
