All Iran has to do is launch from a freighter 100-200 miles off the coast and shoot up 25-30 miles. We could not intercept it in time. After the first blast, then launch the one for over the middle of the US.
Iran has been practicing with rockets that just go up. that is all that is needed.
A freighter makes an excellent launch platform with a large cargo hold.
