It's not easy being a parent, but your children are the best thing that can ever happen to you. WIC is very helpful. If your girl can stay home, have her breastfeed. It is the best for the baby to be breastfed by mama. It's also far cheaper than formula. There are crisis pregnancy centers-NOT PLANNED PARENTHOOD, which is an abortion mill and nothing else. Find some Christian Pregnancy center as they will know what services are available in your area and will probably give you free pregnancy testing and free sonogram services.

If you decide to have the baby it is important the mom rake pre natal vitamins, specifically folic acid to prevent birth defects. Check out the phone book for local health clinics or programs she may qualify for free care or sliding scale cost. WIC woman infant and child is a free national nutritional program for low income moms and babies.

Are you stupid? Get your head out of your ass, you have a child on the way!! It's no longer about you or her, it's about what is best for the child(ren). The best thing is, get her to a dr immediately. Test... then when the test is positive, it is time for prenatal visits. You need medical insurance for that, unless you are rich enough to pay out of pocket, which I'm guessing you aren't.

Then if she, the gf, should apply for ILMED, if you aren't going to marry her right away and apply health insurance or if she doesn't have it either. So... be a man and at least guide her.

Second, apply for Illinois Medicaid here-

She will qualify because she is pregnant and Illinois and most states will (rightfully so) not leave a pregnant mother behind. Apply. Go to initial interview and show up on time and be prepared to wait!

In the meantime, get a job, a GOOD job with health insurance and imo marry her. Your child and the child's wellbeing should ALWAYS come first and a child bodes better in a married family.

Wow negative much? Unfortunately you have seen the bad and obviously never the good. I am a proud person and was laid off with no insurance when I got pregnant with my daughter I cried when I applied for Medicaid but needed to get to a doctor. Before I had my daughter I had a new job and insurance. Me and my husband have a huge happy family and are currently self sufficient he works as do I and that is the only time I took any handouts. Btw canceling Medicaid is near impossible. My point is sometimes things dont turn out for the worse. We learn and are blessed with amazing things we never thought possible.

Hi. I got pregnant unexpectedly when our finances weren't really the best. I was on Medicaid, WIC. And, you know, I love my son. It's not a horrible life. We're still poor. We're still struggling. But all our needs are met and we have a loving family.

If you can't consider adoption, I don't blame you. I could never do it either. And, I was adopted and had a very happy adoption. I'm about as pro-adoption as you can get. But, me, I could never do it.

First, verify the pregnancy. You can get a test at the dollar tree. Then, have her apply for Medicaid and WIC. There may be other assistance programs that she qualifies for and the DSS office should be able to help you with that.

Good luck. Settle down. Take a step at a time. You have several months before he or she arrives.

Lots of good advice here, even if some of you are taking me to be some kind of deadbeat loser. I'm not, I'm just a little down on my luck lately. I will stay with her, I will marry her. almost seems unfair, op, eh? Some people want a baby. They wait around for signs of morning sickness. Wait until the next day to rush out and pick up that pregnancy test - while other couples are anxiously praying the test comes back negative! It took me six years of trying to have my first child. Then i had a second. then there were months when i said "oh god - please not another one yet!" lol. Now my husband and i want one last one, but so far the test keep coming back negative.
I dont think we get to pick when our children come to us. I think we just provide opportunities, and they arrive when they want to!

Seems to me you need to find out for sure before even going where you are now.Go to the $1 stores and get a pregnancy test.At least you will know for sure or breath a sigh of relief...Never understood why people get in an uproar before they even know for sure.

I gave you phone numbers and addresses of the DHS in IL. They are the agency that provides ILMED (Medicaid insurance to people who are on welfare, can't afford insurance, or people who simply have no other option). Do not be afraid, ashamed or anything. The health and wellbeing of a baby is more important then pride.

I had to use Medicaid once and I had a great experience. I have friends who have used Illinois Medicaid and they will never turn a pregnant woman away unless you financially sufficient to do so.

Be thankful the Creator (Whomever you deem God to be) bestowed the gift of Life onto you. You are lucky. There are people all over the world, with lots of money, stability, everything, and they are infertile, and have failed attempt after attempt to try to have a baby with technology and cannot. I know this, because I work in Healthcare.

You can do this. You have to be the strong one and you will be. Now go and do what a father should do and help, guide, and protect your family.
