If your a woman that doesn't know why your attracted to owls, I'd say it's Lillith's spirit within you trying to manifest it's self. Don't fall for it though. Also, on a side note, don't worship objects. It's easy too... So beware!!

Having put on an estate sale and 2 follow up moving sales, I can tell you that items such as that owl are good sellers. People are interested in that stuff. Hardly anyone was interested in our mink coat.

I love tag sales, especially over here in CT.. You have all the rich Fairfield County people who sell very valuable things for a fraction of the cost, half the time they forgot how much they originally paid.

Very lucrative. In fact it's how I started my massive record collection, but that is off topic.

My friend got lucky and found that owl, I will have to keep my eyes open come this Spring when sales start up again.

Some interesting replies from your thread:

According to Native American legend, owls are an EVIL HARBINGER! Check this out...
In the culture of the Uto-Aztec tribe, the Hopi, taboos surround owls, which are associated with sorcery and other evils. The Aztecs and Maya, along with other Natives of Mesoamerica, considered the owl a symbol of death and destruction. In fact, the Aztec god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, was often depicted with owls. There is an old saying in Mexico that is still in use:[32] Cuando el tecolote canta, el indio muere ("When the owl cries/sings, the Indian dies"). The Popol Vuh, a Mayan religious text, describes owls as messengers of Xibalba (the Mayan "Place of Fright").[33] The belief that owls are messengers and harbingers of the dark powers is also found among the Hočągara (Winnebago) of Wisconsin.[34] When in earlier days the Hočągara committed the sin of killing enemies while they were within the sanctuary of the chief's lodge, an owl appeared and spoke to them in the voice of a human, saying, "From now on the Hočągara will have no luck." This marked the beginning of the decline of their tribe.[35] An owl appeared to Glory of the Morning, the only female chief of the Hočąk nation, and uttered her name. Soon afterwards she died.[36][37] People often allude to the reputation of owls as bearers of supernatural danger when they tell misbehaving children, "the owls will get you."[38] Also, in the native Cherokee culture, as well as many other Native American cultures, owls are a very bad omen.

This movie is also about creepy owls, based on actual events (supposedly)

Owls are just lethal hunters is all. So happens to be the American symbol the bald eagle is a lethal predator as well.

The omen, evil, magical aspects requires faith, if you believe may it be so.

(9) The kippod (JPS, AV, "bittern") and the kippoz (JPS, "arrowsnake," AV, "great owl") are mentioned in the account of the destruction of Edom, where various birds lived and nested (Isa. 34:11, 15). Associated as its name is with the meaning of rolling oneself up into a ball, the kippod has been identified with the short-eared owl (Asio flamneus) which adopts a rotund posture and lives near swamps and in ruined places, and hence Isaiah (14:23) prophesies that Babylonia would be made into "a possession for the kippod and pools of water." The hedgehog is also called kippod or koppad in the Mishnah (Shab. 5:4), because it rolls itself up into a ball.

(10) The lilit (JPS, "night monster," AV, "screech owl"), which also occurs in Isaiah's prophecy about Edom (34:14), refers to a species of bird (cf. Nid. 24b), the word, connected with laylah ("night"), denoting a nocturnal bird, perhaps the tawny owl (Strix aluco). In the aggadah it is the name of a night-demon (see *Lilith).

The sa'ir, mentioned alongside the lilit, is apparently also a species of owl. This word is now applied to the smallest of the owls, the Otus scopus. Another view holds that it refers to a species of demon (cf. Lev. 17; II Chron. 11:15)

Revelation 18:2 KJV "And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird."

Re: Thoughts On This Paperweight Owl?
Well, i don't know about this. I purchased an thrice owl piece of art as it was fairly priced and it's kinda cute.

Here's a pic...

However, I noticed I had subconsciously been collecting roosters . I hear there is some conspiracy surrounding roosters too.

I was concerned, but if there were no roosters there would be no chicken eggs and that would surely be hell.

And if there were no owls there would be a rodent problem. Get a grip.

damned

peace

It's just an owl.

Ok not a book end.

The casting burs were hand filed off. so it's old, not a mas produced piece.

Is it magnetic? If "no" if you move the magnet over the bottom quickly is there resistance.
I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three.

Owls are also associated with the legal profession. Wise old owl. Many lawyers have little trinkets like that in their offices.
