My Favorite Part of New Years Eve ~Post Your Best Episodes Opening Narrations for the Twilight Zone [link to en.wikiquote.org] The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street quote is deep Rod Serling: The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs, and explosions, and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, ideas, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy. A thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is, is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone. |

My Favorite Part of New Years Eve ~Post Your Best Episodes I go to the local library and borrow DVDs. I have been watching The Twilight Zone for the past week. I said instead of going out on New Years I was going to have a Twilight Zone marathon. After watching a few epidsodes you have to think, man who thought up these things? Rod Sterling was a genious and whoever else wrote those episodes. Some episodes are just like "wow", I would never have thought that up. I like "Kick the Can" and the one with the camera that takes pics of the future. I also like the clothing and cars from that era. Good thread idea! |

My Favorite Part of New Years Eve ~Post Your Best Episodes In spite of being horribly outdated, these shows hold up very well. Elizabeth and charles (bronson) as postapoc soldiers was one of my favs, as well as the one where agnes moorehead is fighting little men from space. The only thing wrong with the marathon is that you need an outer limits marathon also. Twilight zone was great, but "limits" really scared the piss outta me. There is a movie or two more recently based off that concept, no? There must be. I'm sure many of these episodes are at least inspiration if not the full basis of other movies/shows down the road.. There is one episode, wonder if someone mentioned, that features a little blond girl who disappears into her house, much like Poltergeist, even has father going into the hidden realm to bring her back. :cpl3: :rose:Power, Corruption and Lies.. [link to www.syfy.com] Looks like starts 8am Dec 31 continues on through new years day... Looks like airtime picking up for the show through out January as well. They must have the whole series on DVD but I'm guessing pricey.. The show was on for quite a while so would be a rather large DVD set. :cpl3: :rose:Power, Corruption and Lies.. Like most other people I am utterly disenchanted and disgusted by politics. Like most people I regard politicians as frauds, thieves and liars and the current left/right political system as nothing more than a bureaucratic means for furthering the augmentation and advantages of the economic elites. Billy Connolly said: “Don’t vote, it only encourages them,” and, “The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever being one.” |
