Nativity scene draws ire in small town in AR.
[link to www.baxterbulletin.com]
Baxter County, the city of Mountain Home and a local law firm all are in a Washington D.C. law firm’s crosshairs for their role in the erection of a Christmas nativity scene, or crèche, on the courthouse lawn.

A letter dated Jan. 1 from the Appignani Humanist Legal Center is copied to Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass, Mountain Home Mayor David Osmon and Mountain Home attorney F.S. “Rick” Spencer.

The letter is written on behalf of a Baxter County resident who has alerted Appignani Humanist Legal Center to the county’s crèche, which is prominently displayed on the front lawn of the Baxter County Courthouse, according to Monica Miller, the author of the letter for the legal center.

“For about 15 years, the county has featured an exclusively Christian nativity scene in front of its courthouse during the holiday season. Religious (specifically Christian) elements overwhelmingly dominate the display, thus violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution,” Miller wrote.

Following a meticulous description of items in the nativity scene, with explanations of the religious or Christmas connotations of each, Miller writes:

“We hereby demand that the county promptly remove it and provide assurances that no similar display will be erected in the future.”

It is just soooo easy to hate these cheesy little twat-waffles...

Are their lives just so meaningless that they have to attack a holiday?

Re: Nativity scene draws ire in small town in AR.
It's about time that someone reads the establishment clause to the supreme court. It very clearly states that the government shall make no law to establish a religion. It doesn't say a fucking word about the separation of church and state. The only mention "separation of church and state" by the founders was in a letter (I think it was written by Madison, but I could be wrong) that was about keeping the government out of the church, not the other way around. All the founders were very clear about where the values they tried to ensure came from. Contrary to the progressive bullshit being passed around today, the founders were all very religious. I am not a very religious person, I do know that America would be a very different place without the Judeo-Christian values the founders gave us in our founding documents. It is time for America to return to the Constitutional government that served us so well for the first 150 years.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

That was Thomas Jefferson to whom you are referring, and you are absolutely, 100% correct; there is ZERO phrase(s) in the US Constitution relating to "Separation of Church and State".

This is a phrase that the uneducated pick up from their betters, and parrot to and hold over the heads of those who are even less educated in order to pursue their agenda.

For the last thirty or so years, it has worked. It has worked so well that many believe it to be so, however, not one of those repeating the phrase (from either side) could be bothered to simply READ their Constitution.

And we wonder why we're in such a damned mess.

8) Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

It's impossible to say one way or another. Either way shitty humans exist.

I'm not particularly religious, but seeing a nativity scene wouldn't irk me one bit, nor would I wish to see it removed.

As someone once said, it "neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

I don't think it's impossible to say either way.

Religion is single-handedly the prime motivating factor responsible for more deaths, abuse, torture and war in this world than I care to list.

Not to mention all the hate, the arguments, the tearing apart of families and friends, and the dividing of mankind throughout the world.

I rest my case your honor.

Not trying to fuel racism here but on our local tv station, the Good shepherd center was giving out Christmas meals and free toys to the needy. Guess who showed up on the newscast?
It was all turbanite families. Just the people who don't want Christmas! Hypocrites.

It hasn't been difficult for them to achieve it at all. 82% of Americans SAY they are Christians and we have very few religious freedoms or rights left. No one has said a word, no protests, no fights in courts, nothing to combat keeping our freedom of religion. Amazing how fast this country is disintegrating once they started slaughtering religion.

You can worship your god and jesus and pray morning, noon and night and NO ONE will deny you that right.
