Why do modern bible translators delete God's name from their new bibles and substitute 'Lord'?

Oh, probably for the same reasons others add it in where it isn't called for in the original.

I read somewhere one time that the NIV is from the same publisher as the modern satanic bible...

It's not a conspiracy and it's not a slight against God... not that you were suggesting it.
I am wondering why in the world you would post this on GLP.

It really very simple. We know who Adoni, El Shaddai, YHWH, etc... are, so it's a matter of simplification. If you look at it like this, let's say someone with no idea about the bible at all, picks it up and sees all these different names God gives to himself, to describe different aspects of his character, or different aspects of his relationship to his people, they might misunderstand and think there are many gods.
I think it is fine to say "Lord", etc... as long as a note is present explaining what was said in the Hebrew.

look up the diff of lord it is eye opening to learn it does not mean god!!!it a tittle of the land owner . they are getting you use to who your masters really are.
