She would absolutely crucify any conservative that did what she did and they would not have a job and she knows it. Total double standard. Save your crocodile tears Melissa.

Double ditto. She is not sorry for what she did. She is sorry it backfired and worried about the PC fallout.

This is the same elite minded statist that said "We have to break through our kind-of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities..."

I'll believe she is sorry about an ill considered political slam when she stops thinking of people as wards of the state.

I see.

Could you explain what the strategy is used for? I'm confused by what was gained by making racist comments and then having to tearfully apologize and look like an absolute fool in front of the entire country.

What is the ultimate goal they hope to achieve?

I'm speaking about the left of center folks.

Exactly.

So why even post an obvious bias link when you know full well it's not objective?

I'm just trying to see in what ways people think the right and the left are actually different.

Re: MSNBC's Harris-Perry apologizes for mocking Romney over black grandchild
MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry apologized this morning amid a growing media storm over the way she and her guests made fun of Mitt Romney's adopted grandchild -- who happens to be black.

During the segment, as Harris-Perry showed the Romney family photo, one of the panelists, Pia Glenn, sang: "One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just isn't the same."

Harris-Perry chimed in that "my goal is that in 2040, the biggest thing of the year will be the marriage between Kieran Romney and North West. Can you imagine Mitt Romney and Kanye West as in-laws?"

Say what you will about fox news, but the right doesn't use these tactics.

The left is tactless, racist, and sexist. All under the guise of tolerance and equality.

I saw that picture prior to the whole Harris-Perry issue. When I looked at the picture I never realized one of the kids was black. I just don't look at people that way. I saw a whole bunch of cute kids but never once did I think, hey- there's a colored one.

Her apology was a forced thing. She had to do it. As a person of color I think it is odd that that would come up. If we are all the same and all equal why would she focus on a difference?

BTW- you see white people adopting black kids all the time. Do black people adopt white kids?

No, the right, for all its faults has a least a veneer of decency that does not consist of the public harpooning of children and innocent bystanders.

There's not so much collateral damage from media of the right.

Good thread. All this leftist evil needs to be relentlessly exposed. At least it will bring a public apology and these putrid episodes won't sink soundlessly into the sunset.

What? One thing for certain is that conservatives will have a variety of opinions about Beck, as we do NOT march lock step with a pre-planned and approved set of talking points.

I believe that Beck is entitled to his opinion and while I vehemently disagree with him I will defend his right to be an independent thinker...

I saw a comment made the other day and thought how very true...the writer asked what would be the level of outrage if a picture of Barack Obama sitting with his mother and maternal grandparents and Rush Limbaugh was to sing "One of these things is not like the other..."?

We would all feel Al Sharpton's palpitations as he sputtered his outrage and demanded Limbaugh's scalp...

I hate the double standard, but at the same time glad that we are better people than the left...
