Orca stranding - third largest in NZ history

Very sad. Very strange for orcas to strand.

Apparently this number of orcas stranding is the 10th largest in world history.

I know a lot of you don't see the connection between strandings and quakes. Often there isn't. But our last whale stranding a few weeks ago was followed by a 6.2.

Where this pod stranded is right where there has been some moderate quake activity recently. It has been an active spot of the past few years. Some big quakes have gone off there.
