The Twisted Motives Behind Political Correctness - Exceptional Points For Everyone On GLP
I just read an exceptional article on political correctness. This article is a great read and goes to show so well what is behind all the petty fights that occur on GLP amongst all the diverse groups here. Every GLPer should read this and think about what exactly motivates their threads and their posts. Small excerpt that I find to be a great intro into the entire article:

"PC Elitism

One of the unfortunate side effects of religion is that proponents often use it as a means to feel superior to others. I have seen it in Christianity as much as I have seen it in any other belief system. It is the primary reason why I refuse to subscribe to organized and establishment-sanctioned spiritualism. Religion should be a personal experience first and foremost, not an easy way to fit in with the collective. Communing with others who share one’s beliefs should be secondary. Hypocritically, politically correct adherents often criticize Christians for their collectivist elitism while suffering from the same problem themselves.

PC culture allows participants to pretend as though they have some greater understanding of the world, an elevated knowledge of life that makes them superior to the uninitiated. It is important to understand that when a person pursues the methodology of zealotry, he doesn’t do it to make the world a better place; he does it to feel better about his place in the world.

The politically correct are so violent in the assertion of their ideals because they crave the subjugation of the mainstream and a recognition of their “rightness.” They don’t want people to “accept” their beliefs as tolerable. They want people to adore their beliefs as supreme. They want every man, woman and child to reinforce their ideals without question.

The malfunction of this philosophy is that zealots are never finished. They must always find new ways to feel superior to others. So they continuously engineer new taboos and new sins, no matter how ridiculous, so that they can forever look down upon the laymen. Because of this, there will never be an end to PC law. It will go on forever, labeling numerous social interactions and stances as “aberrant” — never satiated and never satisfied."

This article has been a refreshing reminder of why I have taken such a disdain lately for coming onto GLP due to all the horrific comments I see posted from one "faction" directed at another "faction", whether it be Christian, atheist, gay, non-gay, the old, the young, etc.

I guess my bottom line is why can't we all just get along, agree to disagree, stop the bashing, and learn to respect other's belief systems, whether we agree with them or not.

WHY CANT WE ALL GET ALONG?

PC has one major goal, to make lies acceptable and preferable, even if you know they are lies, and make the truth, even when you know its the truth, unacceptable.

You'd have to ask those who prefer lies why they cannot get along with the truth.

Wow, I try to bring some civility to GLP and ask for a "cease fire" so to speak and I get a 1 star. SMH.

Here's another psyop word associated with political correctness.

Tolerance.

What is tolerance? It's not harmony. It's not mutual respect. It's not cultural integration.

It's the act of bearing an act and not taking retribution.

Tell me, what happens if you tolerate bullies to long? It certainly doesn't solve your bully problem. You just end up giving away your lunch money every day.

The guy has a point though - the essence of PC is to celebrate falsity as truth. To call for everyone to get along is standard PC practice, and it is falsity. Not that it wouldn't be nice if people got along, but it is better to have the truth of conflict vented openly than a false "peace".

So called political correctness is an age old agenda synthetically injected into every society right before the rise of some tyrannical power.

It works every time because humans, as a mass, are incapable of independent logic.

Okay, people, we're Drawing Party Lines again.
This dichotomy that has crippled America's political system.
Deep polarization, identifying so closely with our ideas that we mistake them for our reflections. We don't have to agree and we should certainly discuss our political views and make sure that we fully understand the ideas we endorse.

Also, we don't have to agree on religion. We can agree to disagree sometimes, or come to a level of mutual understanding. Isn't there a balance between vitriol and sheeple passivity?

The guy made a statement about "you'd have to ask those who prefer lies why they cannot get along with the truth" and in my view that statement was falling right into the quoted category of elitism. I don't know what "truth" he speaks of, but he has immediately taken a stance that his truth is the only truth and whatever the other side is, which I don't even know what side that would be, is lying, thus falling into the very elitism I quoted above. You see, even if his side isn't the PC side, his position is still elitism by the very same definition.

Let's also clarify here on my call for everyone to get along. My call for everyone to get along is not standard politically correct practice, seeing as how I am opposed to political correctness, as evidenced by my praising the article. My call for everyone to get along is taken from my libertarian views that everyone has rights, so long as those rights do not infringe upon another's rights in asserting them.

My call was to end the bashing of one another, the unnecessary name calling, the unnecessary baiting of people of opposing views with threads and posts that only serve to inflame, i.e., atheists saying things that are pretty nasty and disgusting about God and religion in an attempt to yield their perceived superior position over the religious. This is just one example of course, the religious people say nasty and disgusting things about the atheists, the gays say nasty and disgusting things about non-gays, the non-gays do so against the gays, young against old, old against young, male against female, female against male, black against white, white against black, and so on and so on.

Don't mistake my intent either as that of trying to suppress discussion of topics. My intent is of trying to call to an end to all of the ugliness and nastiness and the hurtfulness that is being spouted in an attempt to flame and be hurtful. Nothing really comes from it and there is no real, honest, or frank discussions behind these tactics. Tactics is the appropriate word here because generally when this happens the very purpose behind such posts and threads is to divert away from real, honest, and frank discussion of a given topic and to cause discord, anger, and hurtfulness.
