[link to florapittsburghensis.files.wordpress.com] I've been mostly eating this in salads and wraps. It can also be boiled or fried and throw in some onions and garlic and your set! I've really grown to like this plant a lot. I'm going to be having some fried with cabbage for dinner tonight. ~Deplorable Doom Husky~ DO NOT blame me for the actions of others :Bvglasses: Sharing is Caring! |

Since they are in the same family and have similar properties I would think mallow would be a great substitute for okra when it's not available. ~Deplorable Doom Husky~ DO NOT blame me for the actions of others :Bvglasses: Sharing is Caring! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37397611 Related to spinach but higher levels of all nutrients! Brought to America and used as a food crop many years ago, it grows as a common weed in the eastern half of the US [link to www.fcps.edu] Pick leaves when the plant is less than 2 feet tall. Grew up on these in Montana, weed that likes manure. Government is a body largely ungoverned. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 45756425 United States 04/03/2014 02:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I always thought 'My Side of the Mountain' was a good book to take a glance through. There's a lot of good info, grinding acorns into flour, turtles into soup, cattails into a potato-like mash (if my memory serves my correct). I'm not sure how long Parvo lasts in soil, but I pulled up some MASSIVE dandelion roots last years from the yard our dog had poo-ed in three years earlier when he had the disease. The yard had had two years of no dog poo at all. I was going to make some dandelion root tea, but I didn't expect them to get moldy so quickly. for this thread!! |
