Re: FORESHOCK! Hello Everyone, A 7.2 on the North Side of San Andreas and A 6.0 on The South Side???
bsflag

There is no 6.0 showing anywhere near the southern end of the San Andreas Fault.

IF, you're referring to the 6.0 in Central America, then you need to re-read up on your Fault Lines there bub.

The southern half and the San Andreas Fault, ends in Bombay Beach, California.

The 6.0 in Central America has nothing do to with the 7.2 in the north, which by the way ALSO was NOT part of the San Andrea's Fault!

The 7.2, was in the southern rift zone of the Cascadia Seismic Region within the Mendocino Fracture Fault along the Gordo Ridge....

Learn your geological Faults before you go off spewing hogwash and horse squeeze about .. "OMG!! WAAA! WAA! TWO MAJOR EARTHEQUAKES ON EITHER END OF THE SAN ANDREAS AT THE SAME TIME! OMG! OMG! WE'RE ALL DOOOOOOMED!"

Frickin idiot.

6.8 and 4.6 according to USGS. If they want to play it down and it can be proven they are doing that then we can go ahead and go with the other sites numbers. Until then it's only the magnitude posted.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 53320924

Oh it's been proven, repeatedly. They also made changes to the rating system. I'm in to much pain & don't feel like digging up the YT vid of the guy showing repeated changes to the USGS quake history, both in individual quake sizes & number of quakes per year. Now, as to WHY they are doing so.....since they deny my second point & give some lame ass excuse for the first point....your guess is as mine.

What USGS says there is a 50% chance of a stronger quake

That seems unusual and high for USGS to say that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48654304

If that's what they're saying I'd take that as closer to an absolute certainty than 50%.

I am earth sensitive-it is not a GIFT. With so much going on globally both naturally and 'manipulated' my body registers things all the time and it is not fun. I didn't know about the quakes in Calfornia until I came to GLP today and I don't use the computer every day because I am also very wifi sensitive-makes me very ill if I spend too much time online-I don't own any other devices, so........... I just wanted to say that I have a tremendous PRESSURE in the middle of my chest (heart chakra) that feels like I imagine being slowly squeezed in a vice feels, this may be related to an impending large quake because this has happened to me before, and after the quake there is an instant release of this pressure. That said, I also get this pressure from strong cmes, but this time I am very very depressed, sad, borderline tears. I could be tuning in on multiple scenarios but just wanted to add my two cents that a number of things might be on the horizon to hit all at once. Before I learned about the Malaysian plane, a few days before I broke down for no apparent reason in sobs, so maybe I am now picking up on something else that is afoot?

No reason they couldn't be foreshocks, I suppose, but, as far as I know, the earth isn't aware of, and therefore doesn't celebrate, anniversaries.
 Quoting: idoubtthereforeiam

you are right and also wrong. cycles are anniversaries, and how those cycles work can land on the same date, although probably nothing.
 Quoting: The South Park Agenda

What about the 188 day cycle or whatever?
 Quoting: Drunk Uncle

Sorry, but what does the earth care about cycles, anniversaries or north or south? It just does it's own thing ... it doesn't know or care about human concepts like time or place. It's been around for more than 4 billion years doing it's own thing. We're not the first advanced civilization on this planet. Others have come before us, and they were wiped out without the planet giving a shit. You're trying to look for patterns where there aren't, and trying too much to anthromorphize the earth when you really can't.

 Quoting: MatangLawin

Total disagreement.

Our sense of time is where the pattern comes from.

The earth behaves in a cyclical manner. Writhing and frothing through the cosmos.

Just because WE are the ones who assign an arbitrary anniversary to something does not mean it doesn't happen at regular intervals.

Also, the earth is as much alive as any biological entity hosting billions of microscopic parasites.

From what I have read about quakes, more often than not, before a big one there is a foreshock. It would be rare for a 9.0 to come out of nowhere without any foreshock warning or activity. Not saying it cant happen, just that its more likely to have a decent size one first.

Also, what about those long snakey fish things that were washing onto shore a few months ago? Anyone remember the deal with that? I thought it was some kind of warning?
 Quoting: Drunk Uncle

Oar fish is what you are thinking of. They started washing ashore in Japan up to two years before the big one in Mar 11.

A 9.+ earthquake & the west coast falls into the ocean. The tsunami generated will sink Hawaii & Japan. The quake will cause Yellowstone to erupt which in turn causes the New Madrid to devastate middle America. The shelf in the Atlantic caves thus the east coast of the U.S. & western Europe is destroyed by tsunamis. "Vengeance is Mine" sayeth the Lord!

Yellowstone by itself would be the end of the Midwest.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54800618

the mid west....iamwith
really? thats all
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55416234

Experts say a supervolcanic event in Yellowstone would be at least 50 times as powerful as the Krakatoa blast and 2,000 times the size of the 1980 Mount St. Helen’s eruption. In short, surrounding communities like West Yellowstone, Moran, and Cody would be Pompeii – buried in more than 240 cubic miles of pumice and ash. They would be the lucky ones.

The eruption would last for about a week. The resulting debris thrown into the atmosphere would obliterate the sun for weeks after, probably months. Worldwide famine would take hold, threatening every species on Earth.

“I would think it would be quite severe,” said Dr. Michael Rampino. Rampino is a professor at NYU in the departments of biology and environmental studies. “First, it would be a problem to get through the eruption. Areas adjacent to Yellowstone would be destroyed by basaltic lava flows.

Volcanic ash would cover the western United States. In the years to come, average global temperatures would plummet. The cooling would be pretty dramatic: 5 to 10 degrees. And that’s Celsius. We’re probably talking 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit lower temps around the world.”

Crop failures would result in worldwide famine, Rampino speculated. And there would be nowhere to run. Even tropical regions near the equator would experience frost. Loss of vegetation would result in the extinction of numerous species, especially those already threatened.

“The tropics might be the worst place to be if we get the effects we think we will get from a mega-eruption,” Rampino said. “There is the threat of drought in those regions and populations there are short on food now. Any species not particularly cold-hardy would be in serious trouble.”

I will tell you that i never mind reading the responses, not out of a discourtesy, but out of the cognitive dissonance most of you suffer from.

You fight what is VS what you would like it to be and as proof, glp first thread: how expensive is egg these days..

Pas me the bong so i get stupid also.

Priceless, this one is a real cause to look out for, two big ones plus a pletora of strange tecto activity today, now if the sun fires a big enough one, were on, take it like a friendly Enders game.

Be safe and keep calm, nothing is under your control :)

100% true that japan took a high 6 or low 7, 1 day or 2 before the 9.1

Yea, it was a 7.2 that rocked the area 2 days prior to the 9 pointer there. It was labeled a foreshock after the 9.0 hit on the 11th.

That's the reason they chemtrails in the first place to keep the earth changes and climate change from happening and keep us in a perpetual state of debt slavery and wars until Russia and China are knocked off then no wars and just peace until the fake aliens invade and then all of humanity unites against the fake enemies and we're at peace and need to take our shots to make sure we're more obedient and root out the thing that causes any human to rebel

Re: FORESHOCK! Hello Everyone, A 7.2 on the North Side of San Andreas and A 6.0 on The South Side???
March 11th, Like most days in April not a very friendly day ...

1977 – The 1977 Hanafi Muslim Siege: more than 130 hostages held in Washington, D.C., by Hanafi Muslims are set free after ambassadors from three Islamic nations join negotiations.

1978 – Coastal Road massacre: At least 37 are killed and more than 70 are wounded when Al Fatah hijack an Israeli bus, prompting Israel's Operation Litani.

1983 – Pakistan successfully conducts a cold test of a nuclear weapon.

1990 – Lithuania declares itself independent from the Soviet Union.

1990 – Patricio Aylwin is sworn in as the first democratically elected President of Chile since 1970.

1993 – Janet Reno is confirmed by the United States Senate and sworn in the next day, becoming the first female Attorney General of the United States.

1999 – Infosys becomes the first Indian company listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

2004 – Madrid train bombings: Simultaneous explosions on rush hour trains in Madrid, Spain, kill 191 people.

2006 – Michelle Bachelet is inaugurated as first female president of Chile.

2007 – Georgia claims Russian helicopters attacked the Kodori Valley in Abkhazia, an accusation that Russia categorically denies later.

2009 – Winnenden school shooting: 16 are killed and 11 are injured before recent-graduate Tim Kretschmer shoots and kills himself, leading to tightened weapons restrictions in Germany.

2010 – Economist and businessman Sebastián Piñera is sworn in as President of Chile, while three earthquakes, the strongest measuring magnitude 6.9 and all centered next to Pichilemu, capital of Cardenal Caro Province, hit central Chile during the ceremony.

2011 – An earthquake measuring 9.0 in magnitude strikes 130 km (81 mi) east of Sendai, Japan, triggering a tsunami killing thousands of people. This event also triggered the second largest nuclear accident in history, and one of only two events to be classified as a Level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale.

2012 – A US soldier kills 16 civilians in the Panjwayi District of Afghanistan near Kandahar.
