Yet, astonishingly, electromagnetic signals can still make it through the portal, and the two sides of the portal remain in contact across the radio spectrum. (This explanation sounds like pure science fiction and also seems extremely unlikely, yet we must at least acknowledge that modern physics has already demonstrated the instantaneous teleportation of information across apparently infinite space due to the "non-locality" of entangled electrons as described in quantum theory.)

I'm starting to lean this way as well, not as though it's the first time. Strange things have happened in the past like this with ships and planes, military and civilian vessels.
I was originally set on the military explanation with the use of metal eating nanobots however, the cell phone situation throws that out the window.
What about the planes transponder, (black box), why would this device stop working and the phones keep working???

I think it's both #1 and #4

Hijack is not yet excluded, there is evidence that at least 2 men where on board with false passports.

It could be a planned hijack by a group of extremists or organisation. Could they have used advanced technologies to break the radar and black box functions, and landed the plane somewhere?

If it's the case they must have a purpose for the hijack and will use the plane to finish off their plans. I just hope that we will not hear about a plane crashing into a skyscraper again.

I only hope that Kathryn E.May will 'chanel' her theory after the Malaysian airliner saga is over.

The Jet was hijacked and turned to a new course after it gets out of visual range of the airport. Air traffic control doesn't see this because their system has been hacked to show a false image of the jet proceeding along its proper course. The bogus image continues along its normal course for a while and then is seen to alter course and then disappear, thus sending everybody on a wild goose chase.
