What did Jesus mean by this; "“Stop storing up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, ....rather store up treasures in heaven"

Clutter is clutter, no matter where you store it.

Just be.

This goes sorta a lot with how you act in this life will have effects on your after life. Jesus is saying that if you go after material things on earth and have idols that you are just storing up worthless things. Instead we must have a pure heart through Jesus so that we may begin to build up treasures in heaven. The better you are in this life, the better off you will be in heaven. Obviously we wont know what this means until we get there. It just comes to show that God is very gracious to the most righteous.

also, If you devote you life to getting rich you wont build up treasures in heaven. if you serve God throughout your life then you build many treasures in heaven. Im assuming these are gifts from God.

A get rich scheme for church elders.

Storing up treasures is referring to loving this world and your life and/or thinking those treasures (which could metaphorically mean good works) will grant you eternal life.

Good deads will save you over hoarding, making the unit stronger, if the unit falls the collective effort will more account for the short fall

The 'first resurrection' of those going to heaven has already occurred, the after life we can hope for is the second resurrection, meaning the earthly one (Jo5:28) but you're right about how we live in the present;

"Give orders to those who are rich in the present system of things not to be high-minded, and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches, but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment; 18 to work at good, to be rich in fine works, to be liberal, ready to share, 19 safely treasuring up for themselves a fine foundation for the future, in order that they may get a firm hold on the real life." 1Ti6:17

That is absolutely true; however, works is an expression of your faith, it is not the cause of salvation.

"“Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to YOU. 34 So, never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Sufficient for each day is its own badness." Mt6:33

He meant that instead of selling your soul to get superficial things,act all holy and say the Lord is God so you can create a kingdom in hell to lift you out of the flames .

Perhaps knowledge is the treasure and our brain(thoughts) is heaven.

Then your heart will follow.

The more we know god the more our hearts follow god. Which is to express love.

Knowledge of god, which is love, is the ultimate treasure IMHO.

The more you dwell on getting rich, the less you will come to know god.

You cant have both I think its saying. Its logically impossible.

From what I've gathered from reading your posts is that you believe the ones going to heaven are the "anointed".

If you believe the "first resurrection" has already occurred, what happens to those of your current governing body who claim they are anointed. Did they get left behind, or.....???

For those who don't know all the terminology, it makes this is even more confusing. Guess the "annointed" have changed to the "little flock"? :






Which is it? Those going to heaven already went, or it's hard to know how many remain?

And what about the governing body members/little flock who claim to be anointed?
