It might just have been the boss of a factory signalling for someone to vacate his parking spot." Thanks for the laugh, OP. Would be nice to think it is something that simple but in today's climate, I would be looking up if I were you. |

As a stormchase enthusiast I welcome any additions to our warning capabilities. As long as there is readiness seen in our Government's actions to actually deploy and use them appropriately. We really need to refresh our National Warning System and I look towards the US of A as a role model for such a system's deployment. We need to account for our local peculiarities though. Russians are not very accustomed to hearing those sirens yet, me being a fine example of the exeption today. Most of them either don't pay attention, or dismiss the siren activation too lightly. PS! There is a slight chance the sirens deployment might actually be ment for me and as a warning shot. I managed to tick off an EMERCOM (MChS) offical arguing the Crimean case in our local forum today. If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes. |

Best you can do is run to the nearest man hole in the streets and go down into the sewer, or all ready have an deep under ground nuke bunker that your all ready living in. |

Would be nice to think it is something that simple but in today's climate, I would be looking up if I were you. As much as I understand you, it has actually happened before. This newspiece tells about a siren going off by itself, without warming and spooking the citizens of Petrozavodsk. The article is in Russian, please use Google Translate, or Babelfish. [link to www.stolica.onego.ru] The other article notes how a mannequin factory owner after failing to get in touch with a woman. She blocked the factory's gates. The factory owner / director activated those sirens and made a whole town district of Moscow panic :D [link to newsmsk.com] This article is also in Russian. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55144649 Dangerous times indeed. I think like the Middle East if the bankster controlled West wasn't rattling Russia cage by paying for Jihadist insurrections in the Caucasuses and phony populists Anti Russian insurrections in Ukraine compete with mercenary from you know where snipers shooting Ukrainians then nothing would be happening right now. Oh BTW, google the tribe that the insurrectionist leaders PM and everybody comes from. BTW, sellouts and ruthless tactics in Braveheart mirror what is happening there right now. Nothing changes. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 55611052 United States 03/19/2014 11:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Someone on the Ukraine thread suggested I make a new thread out of this. I recorded this the 19th of March. Air raid sirens are going off unannounced over the Northern part of Moscow. This test came as a complete surprise, since they usually advertise such action beforehand in our local newspaper, or online. Gave me quite a jolt to be honest. Quoting: Snuffielover Considering the tense situation in the Ukraine I find this to be a peculiar coincidence. But then again, our siren deployment policies can be very lax. It might just have been the boss of a factory signalling for someone to vacate his parking spot. I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this matter. Maybe it was a tornado? Just kidding.... for real, may the Lord be with you all. That is unnerving indeed. |
