90 lieutenant colonels, 131 colonels selected for early retirement
[link to www.airforcetimes.com]

Ninety lieutenant colonels and 131 colonels were selected for early retirement by the Selective Early Retirement Board that met Dec. 9, according to data provided to Air force Times on Wednesday by the Air Force Personnel Center.

The officers were notified of their selection Jan. 23 and are assigned a July 1 retirement date.

This SERB is one of several force management programs the cash-strapped Air Force is using this fiscal year to try to get down to authorized end-strength levels.

The selectees, by competitive category:

Line of the Air Force: 69 lieutenant colonels and 105 colonels.

Nurse Corps: Seven lieutenant colonels and seven colonels.

Biomedical Service Corps: Six lieutenant colonels and four colonels.

Judge Advocate General : Six lieutenant colonels and 11 colonels.

Medical Services Corps: Two lieutenant colonels and four colonels

So they sat by and watched 911, Iraq and everything else and kept their mouths shut so they could continue to ride the gravy train?

I just hope they were the ones who said "YES" when asked if they would fire on American Patriots if so ordered.

This does make sense.

A lot of space programs that were developed and managed by the Air Force are being transferred over to Space Force.

I wonder if those chosen will have an opportunity to re-up with Space Force. Most would probably prefer to transfer to the private sector.

More likely they'll be replaced with blacks, women and homosexuals.

No they don’t. The Lt Col’s may not have 20 years in and will get less retirement pay. Retirement pay used to be 50% at 20 years, no one gets that anymore. Also they lose flight pay and housing allowances. They don’t get free medical anymore, they get Tricare. Tricare is heavily subsidized, but you still have to pay for it. Any disability pay comes through the VA not the service branch.

So, yes firing 131 Colonels will reduce the budget by quite a lot.

Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) turned into US Space Force over night. The Navy didn’t send any billets, but they did send their programs. The Army will integrate their space forces into the USSF over several years.

So, no they can’t re-up with USSF, those billets are full.
