This is gonna sound crazy but I gotta throw it out there: I've got this nagging hunch that says this puzzle is somehow linked to the MH370 transcript. This feeling is reinforced by the fact that the transcript was inexplicably translated from English to Mandarin Chinese and then back to English. I know, it looks like I'm reaching on this one and maybe I am. But I simply CANNOT shake this...
Quoting: Chay-Ophan No. Go with it. What word or group of words in the transcript stick out to you that could be a key? Someone earlier recommended using MH370 as a key so you're not alone. The problem is I don't think you can have numbers in a cipher key, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know? Quoting: Doomish Just a stupid question since I know zilch about ciphers, but have you tried using MH370 as the passcode? [ link to doomporn.net] Oh and YES. You can use numbers and letters in a cipher. Numbers can represent letters same as letters can represent numbers. Go here: [ link to inventwithpython.com] And read the part of the Caesar Cipher under the heading ASCII, and Using Numbers for Letters
