-----------------------------------------------

While the overall case counts remain low, and we've seen no indication of human-to-human spread, this upward trend in cases is of concern, as are the detections of H5N6 in poultry in Vietnam and Laos, and the virus showing up in migratory birds in Hong Kong.

Given enough infections, and the roll of the genetic dice it very well may become able to produce sustained H2H transmission. The cases that have been observed have had pretty nasty outcomes, high death rate and many complications of the patients, many of whom are children to young adults.

I see a couple threads mentioning new Ebola vaccines being offered in US.

Are there some news releases to document this?

Will there be a problem with "shedding"?
Spreading the virus from these vaccines?

Mother Nature is ALWAYS rolling the genetic dice. Humanity has been lucky (except Africa) for about 100 years.

The Spanish flu hit the "jackpot" about 100 years ago. It's only a matter of time before we have another "big winner."

One more H5N6 case for those who may be following the Avian Flu variants...My best guess for the next pandemic.

The case involves a 50-year-old man who lives in Xiangxi, Hunan. The patient developed symptoms on May 23 and was admitted to a local hospital on May 28. He is now in a critical condition.

Pretty sure we've posted already where the WHO has made this recommendation, but maybe it's the quantity of countries that has changed/increased --

Women in 46 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean should consider delaying pregnancy due to the Zika virus, the World Health Organization said in new guidance issued this week.

‘Super Bacteria’ Found off Rio Beaches Where Olympic Games Plan Swimming Events
... and in a lagoon where rowing and canoe athletes will compete when the Games start on Aug. 5.

The findings from two unpublished academic studies seen by Reuters concern Rio’s most popular spots for tourists and greatly increase the areas known to be infected by the microbes normally found only in hospitals.

They also heighten concerns that Rio’s sewage-infested waterways are unsafe.

I expected this sort of info a year ago after our Military was in the Ebola infected areas.

I am still adamant that Ebola is widely spread across USA.

A less virulent strain perhaps?

Tick tock... Zika will spread fast over the summer. It won't take long before it overwhelms our health care system. Maybe one or two years.

Texas man fighting to keep leg after flesh-eating bacteria got him. Apparently contracted while swimming.

SECOND case in a week in that area.

Bacteria is vibrio vulnificus. It is believed that it takes hold where there is a scratch in the skin.

This appears to be really bad and really fast. This guy is only 42 years old! Don't know who the first case is. Still, he should be in the prime for infection-fighting.
