Why do you recommend it?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7 inch, it's wonderful, does everything an Ipad does, no Itunes unfortunately, but does have a Word-esque program and is pretty simple to use and has beautiful picture.

Apple products are good in the sense that a lot of the market is geared towards them, in terms of apps and shit. I don't not recommend the Ipad, but you should go try many tablets out and see what the fuck is up.

samsung tab isn't bad, and not as dear as the ipad. it's good and fast and very usable. but I wouldn't recommend doing anything that requires privacy on it or similar tablets, as it's completely infested by google. also, if you're used to being the master of your pc, i.e. controlling what apps are running, sorting out your av etc... you'll find yourself quite limited with a tablet. they're mainly made for stupid people who like surfing facebood and twitter, and don't mind their email hacked and personal details intercepted.

Go to Amazon, search Tablet, order the results by reviews and ratings. Then decide by the amount of positive reviews.

Samsung has an app store that is a little lackluster so you are forced to use Google Play as an app store which is much more abundant in apps. As that Brit a few posts up said, the Samsung tab is inundated with Google, which can be both good and bad. And a lot of the app market has been cornered by apple which blows nuts.

I bought something called a "Nextbook" from Walmart, $69.
Runs android, works pretty good for what you're looking to do.

A netbook is a better idea, cos it's got a keyboard. Unless you get a tablet with a keyboard attached.

What do you mean "inundated with Google"? This sounds scary.

If wifi try the Lenova Yoga 8inch. My wife has one and loves it.

I would wait for the samsung 8.4 inch amoled coming out in 4 months. It uses amoled on the front screen and gives great viewing angles and low current draw plus its going to have a quad processor. To be out in 4 months about.

Samsung tablets are pretty solid devices. If you look at what an iPad can do, and it's limits don't bother you, it's a great tablet as well... but the lack of customization, memory card support, direct USB ports, etc... I prefer Android.

As stated, the new Nexus 7 isn't bad at all. I have a 32gb one for casual use. Very fast and reliable. I have a 10.1" tab for more serious use.

Try them all and do lots of research. You'll become an expert pretty quick.

I highly recommend you look real closely at that thing before you buy it. I bought one for a friend and by the time it was said and done I had went through 4 just trying to set it up in order to gift it to them in the end I gave up.

I run a nexus 7. I did see the Hisense Sero 7 Pro recommended on here last night and when I looked the reviews look very promising. I prefer Asus or Galaxy myself but this one was just cheap enough to catch my eye.

I have the Hisense SERO 7 Pro. It's a great tablet that does what I need it to. It's not cellular which limits me to WIFI only but I am usually around hotspots so it's not that big of a deal. Has removable storage which you can use for pics, vids, movies, ect....you can put apps on the sd card...but only after rooting the tablet. it was 149.00 at wally world when i bought mine.

having said that....the nexus 7 is twice the tablet..and if it can be had for 229 or so...i would spend then extra cash on it.

Why on earth would you want to pay that much for something you cannot repair if it breaks? You're just pissing your money away while making Chinese manufacturers rich.

I've had 2 Nexus tablets and 2 Acer tablets. None have broken. None have failed. Enjoy your bear-skin rugs and flint tools.

Kindle Fire works great for surfing the net/ watching netflix etc etc

I have a Lenovo tablet and it's been a good one. They are made by IBM.

Microsoft surface fully equipped all bells and whistles

$900 for a Surface Pro... well, if you enjoy it, that's all that matters. Personally, I find the iPad MUCH more of a bang for buck deal. And, I NEVER thought I'd say that about an Apple product.
