Anonymous Coward User ID: 55493541 Canada 03/30/2014 01:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First I think all should have some kind of a kit. Food and survival supplies. I have 3 portable kits. One for each exits of my house for easy grabbing. I have one also in my vehicle. When I go on vacation I bring the other two portable ones, no point them being left in a empty house they wont do me any good if I'm not here. I also have a not so portable amount of food water and surivial supplies in my basement cellar. But I think if you feel its important enough to have some food and supplies you should do it smartly! If its that important you should find it important enough to make time to build a proper kit with REAL food that wont make you sick eating it (sorry but 25 year shelf life lasanga? you will be wishing for your demise after a few days of choking down that it will not look like the gourment picture on website, trust me!)I'd rather eat stale chewy bars than that freeze dried meat. And you should also think it important enough to PLAN ahead so that you are not going into debt over the unknown. I suppose diaster could hit tomorrow, even tonight, who knows...but to suggest people should dig out their credit cards and chalk up debt is silly. Like someone else said start small. Build a quick kit tomorrow if you dont have one, with water bottles if you have too and rice. Whatever you can AFFORD. Then as you can build on it. It never does any good to get paranoid and lose your mind about this type of stuff. Stuff NEVER happens when you are actually worried about it. It ALWAYS hits when you least expect it. Buy a 2000+ dollar kit on credit card? Dont be stupid today because your worried about tomorrow. |

Dried sweet potatoes are a very good animal feed for chickens, so you can support your protein requirements, too. I could see that they would be very usefull for storing freshly boiled water for later use throught out the day. Because if the grid should go down, we may not have any electricity for some time, so we will be using our camp stoves or wood stoves if you have one. So heating water & storing it in the flasks will come in handy for those survival foods. Quoting: saffire&gold Plus if you have pets, don't forget to get in extra dried food for them. All good points I've thought of, thankfully we have all the kids bikes still hanging in the garage. |

The guy who started it is a real deal patriot and sells quality stuff. Survival Seed Vault is a must have. Quoting: NakedShorted [link to www.mypatriotsupply.com] I was buying from them back in 2008/9... then they changed their entire product line. Now it's mostly prepacked, freeze-dried stuff. I preferred their original offerings better - bulk supplies, nitro-packed for long shelf life in plain white buckets... Still a great company, but the market has spoken, and they had to listen - people want quick and easy, pre-portioned, just-add-water stuff. While that is exactly what you want for your BOB, it's nowhere near ideal for your main supply of storage food. As a result, I currently have tools to reap the resources. In the scriptures it mentions various things. So if God send me a animal, I have tools to rip it apart. If he sends fish, I have tools to create a trap. So on and so forth but what's the chances that I will even need these? In the past, many have survived with nothing. They went out into the wilderness and used what was there. So I have a knife, hatchet, and some paracord. Canteen with a cup in which I can place over a fire. I don't have much and I desire the basics. I also want to travel light. Hopefully less that 50 pounds. Once in the wilderness it is possible to use bones, fur, wood, and other things. However, that's the problem. It is not my plans that will succeed. God shall fulfill his plans. |
