Tooth Decay Natural Remedy. Health Poll: Have You Ever Done "Oil Pulling" & What Results Have You Had?
POLL: Have you ever done "oil pulling"? What were your results?
Yes & I love it. Has naturally helped my health.
Yes & I saw no results at all.
Yes & I'll never do it again.
Never done it but interested in it.
Never done it & I never will.
 WTF is oil pulling?

This world is crazy and it seems like we are being attacked from every direction - between radiation from Fukushima, GMO', fluoride in our water, cell phones, prescription medications, foods that are low in nutrition, the list goes on and on.

I have seen such amazing results with patients using natural remedies and alternative healthcare. I just recently started researching "oil pulling" and started it myself in an attempt to help detoxify and help my teeth.

The dentistry industry seems to have duped us all - I have talked to some holistic dentists and spoken to some patients who claim that the teeth can actually regenerate themselves -- contrary to what we've been told, that once teeth decay you must get fillings or root canals. It would make sense that this isn't true - other parts of our body, like bones and skin, can regenerate itself when damaged. It wouldn't make sense that our teeth are unable to so the same thing!

So far, I have seen some amazing results doing oil pulling - which is something that people in India and other countries have been doing for thousands of years. It is literally so simple; you use some kind of natural vegetable or essential oil (I use coconut oil), swish it around in your mouth for 15-20 minutes a day (preferably first thing in the morning with an empty stomach) and spit it out. That's all. Supposedly it helps pull out toxins and bacteria from the mouth and upper GI tract, and there is some research that shows that bacteria actually propagates tooth decay. Apparently, the idea is that the consistency of the oil can attract the bacteria to expel it. Also, since the mouth and upper GI can be the gateway to toxins and bacteria to other parts of the body, some people say that by getting rid of the toxins via the oil it can help other health problems. Additionally, the antibacterial properties of oils like coconut and the lactic acid (one of the important compounds of breast milk) can actually help restore tooth decay in addition to eliminating access fluoride intake, healthy diet, etc.

So I have been oil pulling for a month and so far I am amazed at what I'm seeing: whiter teeth, a decayed spot on a lower tooth that needs a filling has shrunk down to half of what it was, and I am actually breathing better. I have stopped using toothpaste completely to eliminate access fluoride intake. I've been using the coconut oil, and then just mix baking soda and brush with a sonicare and water.

I am curious if anyone else has tried oil pulling? What results did you see?

Does this actually work?

I heard its side effect is removing nutrients from your body?

I would be interested if this worked!

I have a question, do you use a toothbrush at all? I just read you use a sonicare. There was a discussion about the vibrations from electric toothbrush doing damage to the teeth, like a little jack hammer, it broke teeth and popped out fillings. Some of my husbands teeth have crumbled and he uses one.

No, it's just going to stink more.

Re: Tooth Decay Natural Remedy. Health Poll: Have You Ever Done "Oil Pulling" & What Results Have You Had?
Been doing it regularly for the past few months, beyond that on and off for over a year.

I wish I could say my teeth look whiter but they don't, I have some yellowish teeth despite my ultra-healthy diet.

I don't know about cavities because I've stopped going to the dentist. Again, despite my healthy diet, I've constantly gotten cavities throughout my life. I got tired of going for teeth cleanings and having them find another cavity. I already have 5 root canals.

So since I don't know if I currently have any cavities, I can't say whether the oil pulling is reversing them.

I do believe teeth can regenerate and I've even done some work with affirmations to direct my body to do so.

I oil pull mostly with coconut and sometimes with sunflower oil.

did it faithfully for a couple of weeks and didn't see any real improvement. 2 long time filings became loose and then came out--coincidence ?
now i play around with warm water and sea salt-hoping for some improvement .

daily for about 4 years. Mostly evco but also cold pressed sesame and sunflower oil. It does work. It will take care of any gum problems you might have and prevent gum disease.

Anecdotally there are a lot of claims made but just keeping your teeth is enough for me.

As you say stay away from commercial toothpaste. You can brush your teeth with coconut oil too.

As mentioned baking soda and hydrogen peroxide is commonly used.

Also, stop eating wheat and corn, they contain indigestible acids that bind with other nutrients.

These two foods are the main causes of cavities.

Stay away from sugar and junk food and you probably won't get cavities in the first place.

I oil pull with coconut oil and I swear by it.

My dental hygienist also raves about how healthy my teeth and gums are.

I believe sesame oil works better than coconut oil.

Here's a link to a page with several legitimate research studies on the topic.

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

Sesame oil reduces streptococcus mutans in the oral cavity, the bacteria that causes cavities.

Re: Tooth Decay Natural Remedy. Health Poll: Have You Ever Done "Oil Pulling" & What Results Have You Had?
I tried oil pulling a couple of times and it pretty much made me gag.

HOWEVER... I started using a combination of organic coconut oil, baking soda and Himalayan sea salt to brush my teeth every day. I love the way it makes my teeth and gums feel, plus the teeth that were sensitive because of enamel loss don't seem to be sensitive anymore. So much better than toxic fluoridated toothpaste!
