Critter Movements in Upstate SC?... Earthquake on the Way??
I am just waking up and have not finished my first coffee...so forgive me if this has already been posted. coffeecup

I just read this letter written in to George at Urban Survival...

A Critter Question

As we sit and wait for the Big whatever between now and the 5th of July (outside) I received an email this morning which is curious:

"Hi George. I’m not rich, but I thought I’d write anyway.

Have you or any of your neighbors noticed what we’re seeing here in upstate SC? We live in a wooded subdivision, where normally in the spring/summer the night sounds are a den, a cacophony of noise – bugs, frogs, crickets, and the like all “singing” together, doing their thing. For the last several weeks, however, nothing, nothing at all! (Well, at least there were 2 frogs croaking a bit at a neighbor’s pool last night). It’s downright eerie!

I asked my employees this morning who live out in the country about it, and yep, they’re experiencing the same thing. My mind went back to the tsunami when the animals left days earlier before it hit…makes me wonder – do the “critters” know something that we don’t???"

So George is now asking for others to write in if they notice anything strange. He says...

----------
"Hmmm... OK, here goes. If you have noticed animal oddities, send in a report by clicking here. And, if you have an upsurge in ear ringing (mine were going off like mad a few days ago), click here. We seem to observe (very unscientifically, I might add) that ears ringing and strange animal behavior tends to precede quakes..."

I'm in mid South Carolina, on Lake Murray, and we have experienced no shortage of critter sounds. Everything is normal here.

I am in north central colorado and for the last couple years I have noticed times with no sounds and no birds and also uptic in road kill

I have been here for 14+ years so you do notice when things are different

at night the past few nights it has ben so dang quiet....weird as we have a fault right near here and if it goes it could dump the lake onto Fort Collins and kill the whole city.

weird times we are living in

Just an update from Urban Survival re critter noises. He has had some responses which he plans to plot on a map...

From: [link to www.urbansurvival.com]

"...Meantime, I've had 45 responses to our animals acting oddly question posed yesterday morning - about 40 of these report something out of the ordinary. Most common: a lack of night sounds. On the question about ringing ears, 51- responses, and about 45 report an increase in ringing.

If I get some time, I will put the ringing and animal oddities up on a map of the US as it seems like the reports are in an arc (think of it as the arc of a new moon) with ends in Maine and maybe Arizona/Colorado, and covering much of the South. That's just a sense from reading all the reports - a geographic display might put things in some kind of context.

And interesting sidelight (at least to me): It seems almost none of the responses come from people who live in big cities like New York, Washington, Atlanta, and so on. Most reports seem to come from smaller towns. It's almost like big city folk are either disconnected from their environments by the day-to-day pressures of life, or they can't hear their ears ringing above the din of city life."
