Why are people so afraid of the idea of extra-terrestials?

I'm with you OP, they may well be our space brothers and sisters who care about the Earth and have technology to aid us.

Hollywood has put fear of aliens into everybody, sigh.

We have to fix our own problems, when we do that, we are ready to meet ET and Mr. Spock.

I don't think it is a good idea for aliens (Who very well could be Romulus or Klingon) to come down here, offer us their tech, and try to help us with problems we solved.

It's tv and movie programming coupled with religion addiction...because if aliens are real it would make their religion bullshit and the fear of learning that what you believe is a lie...its plenty of reason to dismiss, ridicule and block out the mentality of aliens.

How Human Beings Deny the Truth
Human beings on Earth like to blow off the truth by claiming that it is simply nonsense, calling it, for example, "funny," "hilarious," or "entertaining." In addition, they automatically disregard the truth messenger as being a "standard-issue schizophrenic who is obviously out of touch with reality." People desperately try to paint truth messengers as being non-lucid, mentally unstable, illogical, and so self-absorbed that they can't see things for what they really are. This is a very convenient way to quickly discard the truth and go on with one's life.

Furthermore, when people come upon new information such as this, they erroneously assume that they have some sort of intellectual high ground over it. They start with the assumption that their belief system is correct, and, for whatever reason, vehemently refuse to acknowledge the possibility that they may have actually been deceived all along by their belief system. And thus, when confronted with counter-evidence, they automatically reject it.

As a matter of fact, human beings are actually foolish enough to think that their conventional worldviews are the height of rationality. They neglect to factor the concept of intentional deception into their logical thought processes, and thus they fail to realize that the only reason why their worldviews seem so rational is because their worldviews are composed of a plethora of lies and distortions. So, in one of the greatest ironies ever, human beings think the lies that they are spoon fed are reality, and that the truth, on the other hand, is crazy, unrealistic, and bizarre.

It is truly amazing how people are able to adopt one of Earth's belief systems (whether it be a specific religion or atheism), walk through the proverbial door of enlightenment (or so they think), shut the door behind them, and then never look back. Worse yet, they are actually proud not to look back--proud of their own stubbornness.

Once human beings are exposed to the truth, their decision to ridicule it manifests so quickly, one could mistakenly think that human beings are actually robots that were programmed to do so. Thus, if people really want to point the finger at someone who does not engage in serious critical thinking, they should go to the nearest mirror and point at themselves (rather than trying to point the finger at the truth messenger).

It's not about being proud. We as a race have a responsibility to fix our own problems before reaching out further/accepting someone else reaching in here.

We're in no shape for an alien arrival.

I don't know about religion, but spiritually speaking, aliens would affirm that a common Creator exists. You can call That whatever you want, whether it be God, Allah, Tao etc. In my opinion, the arrival of aliens should not endanger true religion. Only the ego of people like the Pope, who think they are appointed by God Himself will be in jeopardy. God has got nothing to do with the Vatican, nor Israel, nor is He in any way shape or form related to what the Church says He is.

In short, aliens might destroy faith in the Church, but the belief in God is not dependent on the Church.

Because the ET have arrived on this planet already. If they wanted something bad, they would have done so already. Human's are stupid. It's like a child's mind mentality. Even seemigly intelligent adults are under the impression that aliens want gold, or oil or our obedience or something. These qualities are not of extra-terrestrials, they are humans! Human's should stop projecting their own thoughts onto aliens and just grow up! It is us who are horrible this way, not them!

I'd question the US Government carrying out these probes and blaming it on real alien abductions. People are so confused. None of the abductees by real aliens were ever injured. Heck they even try to keep them calm.

People have put their iPhones down for moment, logout of Facebook, stop watching so much crap on the internet and the hollywood bullshit that brainwashes you so much, and start to think intelligently.

Certain individuals in the secret goverment have already made contact with some of these ET, and has had conversations with them. (NO KIDDING!).

That's why you will never see movies of aliens being shed in a good light anymore. TONS of Hollywood movies DEPICTING aliens as bad, insectoid, or humanoids, hell bent on destruction and invasion (don't make me laugh. People who believe this crap have not seen a real alien in their lives.)

The Inner orange light are so bright one cannot look at them for fear of burning out ones retina. it looked like hundreds of LED`s each millions of candle power each.

I seen it from rather close up and if it came any closer I was prepared to flee.

We're entertained by monster trucks and we drink monster energy drinks.

I will share two perspectives about why they FEAR it.

The first is general. Humans fear change. The unknown. What they do not understand or relate to. In the case of so called "lower lifeforms", humans simply treat animals and insects with no regard or respect. So, if they do not understand a species, they conquer and destroy or enslave it. They do this with animals, and they have done it to other humans throughout history, whom they do not have identical values and motivations as. This is why we continue to see war, it's human response to attack things that are different or go against their own way of thinking. It's primitive and anti life in practice.

The second is more personal. If a superior race presented itself as more "powerful" and intelligent to humanity, it would be the first time in our recorded history that someone holds people accountable for their actions and choices. The things humans have done to themselves, each other, the planet itself, the animals, etc. Every human would have someone to answer to and be forced to look themselves in the mirror. The fact that most people are terrified by that concept, is very telling. It implies GUILT. Self judgement. Like a lie detector test.

Think about it.

Many moons ago some kind of deal was struck with the USA military/government...we leave you alone and will help you to small degrees if allowed to conduct our experiments.

Part of the agreement would also have to be keeping the UFO / aliens a secret to society....or at least making cover stories for events, hiding evidence and cleaning up the trail for the aliens.....basic plausible deniability.
