Sorry this is long but this needs to be said because I can speak from experience on this one.

In 2005 I got in a car wreck, it wasn't a bad wreck but it was a hard hit in the rear passenger that spun the car around. I was sore but I didn't think it was serious but the next day I was in considerable pain that only got worse from there. I could hardly get out of bed to use the bathroom. At first just thinking I needed to go visit my Chiropractor but it became apparent to him after my second visit that I had more wrong than just an alignment problem, so I was sent to a multiple specialist and had multiple tests, X-Ray's and a MRI, and then lastly a Milogram done to finally find the problem years later, a protruding disk in the T8-T9 area.

See AT the time of the accident I was unemployed I had a job to start the next month but not then so I was treated like some bum just scamming for a insurance check or some junky looking for a high from pain pills. So I languished in pain for months without any relief from the pain. It became so bad that I couldn't sleep, at times I was up 48 hours plus and only got to sleep because I was completely exhausted and my body shut down only to wake up 3 to 4 hours later due to pain to repeat this unending torture.

This level of misery went on for months during which time I had to squander my savings to pay my Mortgage, car payments, Utilities, food everything you name it. Being unable to work or even make Doctor appointments at times due to being almost Psychotic from lack of sleep and constant pain, plus the added worry about how I was going to keep paying the bills seeing as how fast all I had saved was quickly dwindling, I went to seek Psychiatric help, I was in a bad state of mind and finally after a few instances where I became very combative with Doctors uncaring attitudes and inability to give me any help and a plausible answers to any recovery and pain relief it seemed the only choice because I felt soon I was going to snap and really hurt one of those quacks. In hindsight this the worst mistake I have ever made I know the Psychiatric field is filled with the most quackiest charlatans ever to grace the medical field.

After ONE initial meeting, I was diagnosed as having Bipolar disorder and highly depressed. I was put on Cymbalta and Abilify and over time had the dosage increased to its max due to limited improvement, and over time becoming more combative and less trusting towards everyone. I Had only one counseling session with a real Psychiatrist all others where with the P.A. who was prescribing the meds. After many attempts trying to explain that it wasn't helping and even making some things worse, all I kept hearing that I just had to give my body time to get use to the meds (this was after a whole year on the drugs) I realized that I needed to get off them and get real help and the only way I was going to be able to do it was by doing it myself.

It was the hardest thing I have ever done, I have kicked pain pill addiction, and smoking and learned to live with pain that I wouldn't want to put on anyone, but I still couldn't do this without help. I can tell you that the first month was so bad I had to start taking other drugs and then slowly lower the dosage, first it was Risperdal for 8 months then finally Wellbutrin, during this whole time they were still saying it was probably going to be a bad idea, no matter how much better I began to feel I couldn't get them to grasp the fact that they had misdiagnosed me. From all the investigating I have done after the fact things point to this because prolonged lack of sleep also causes a lot of same mood swings associated with Bipolar disorder, as for being depressed lack of sleep can also be contributing factor plus being under extreme stress, well hell yeah I was depressed who wouldn't be after all i was going through, but it would of been better handled with therapy and learning coping skills for the stress not chemical alteration.

Still I had to finally stop taking the meds on my own they still wouldn't accept that the fact that I got better after getting off them, and now after a few years I've gotten some help with my back and learned to live with the pain, settled my case and gotten put on Disability where I can finally get medical attention for my back problem without the stigma of just being someone trying to cheat the system things are much improved no anger issues no mood swings and a positive attitude towards the future, though I still don't trust any Doctor's diagnoses without researching extensively from multiple sources. so my advice to anyone it to seek advice from multiple Doctors and Specialist plus read all the side effects and reviews before starting any prescription drug that targets brain chemistry for behavior modification.

As for my back it will never be the same as too much damage was done over the years because of not receiving proper treatment, it will always give me problems and pain but I've learned to accept that and I didn't need any damn mind altering drug to accomplish it if fact it seems I did it despite them.

No a side note I didn't stop smoking or stop being hooked on pain pills till after breaking away from the antidepressant. One day I said no more and have never smoked another one and it never really bothered me like most that I've known who stopped. As for the pain pills I still take them but now only when the pain gets really bad, a prescription of 60 will last two to three months even longer in some cases. Maybe in some twisted way my experience with the antidepressants taught me how to kick addictive habbits but I think its that they are so addictive/damaging that if you can do it everything else is easy.

PIN! My girl was on 100mg sertraline (zoloft) for a few years before i met her. I popped 2 of them to see what they would do... and HOLY SHIT BALLS i tripped my face off. Maybe i am just naturally schitzo or something, but sertraline just feels really yucky all the way around to me, no matter how low the dosage.

So for the past 6 months i've gotten her to take only 50mg, and she definitely seems more alive and less sedated. I'm gonna get her to try to to go down to 25mg after a while, and fuck it even 12.5mg after that... It'll be a really long process, probably years, but it's not impossible. Anyway, i totally agree that these things are pure evil.

btw, when i say i tripped my face off, i mean i was just completely blown out of the water for like 3-4 days... the halflife on that stuff is something like 28 hours for males, which i'm sure is a big reason why it's so hard to get off, it must just build up in your system like crazy. Which is really scary...

Really good questions about the TV. I LOVE TV, but there's so little we can watch these days. Anything, pretty much, that's scripted is a programming tool, to make you think good is bad, bad is good, up is down, etc.

I've been in and around the medical profession for the last 20 years, and I can tell you that I believe the OP to be telling the truth. I've personally heard doctors explain that once you go on SSRI you can NEVER stop.

Complete and under bullshit. SSRI's saves peoples lives. They are indeed EXTREMELY unpleasant to stop taking, and to cold turkey you gotta put up a fight, but their benefits largely outweigh their side effects. This is misinformation.

I'm dealing with this crap with my mother who were trying to get healthy. It's horrible that they put people on this crap without monitoring them in-patient to see the damage. They send them home to the family's who do not know how to deal with it. I have lost my nerves so many times over the effects of these medicines on my family. It is hard to watch those you love slip away in front of you. But I would not say it poses a bigger threat to national security than the Fed, or end of grid. The grid is why we are enslaved to begin with and the fed put it there. Obama is the current puppet of the fed who gives food stamps to the populace to keep them tolerant. All of these existed before the SSRI's and big pharma. The hand behind the scenes shuffling pieces on a board is always more dangerous than any piece on the board.
