Do women throw around the word "creep" a little too liberally?
I have a girlfriend at this moment so I am not really dealing with this personally because I rarely hit on or flirt with women do there really is no chance of rejection or acting /looking like a creeper (if you are in a relationship with a normal woman other women find it nearly impossible for you to be seen as a creeper for some stupid reason)

But I have dealt with being called a creep or creepy or a creeper in the past. Lately, I have been hanging out with my girlfriend and her friends a lot lately. She has an enormous amount of female friends. I have met so many women in the past few months. Many of them are 10's on the attractiveness scale.

Anyway, being around women this much lately, I have come to the realization that women call pretty much any man that they are not attracted to a creep. Any man who approaches them that is not their type is a creep. Any man that is too old or strange looking is a creep. Any man that approaches them awkwardly or acts shy or awkward is a creep. It even applies to people that aren't even hitting on them or talking to them. A guy they see on the street corner minding his own business- he has dirty clothes or bad style he's a creep. It's incredible. I used to think I deserved this treatment from women. But the reality is that the vast majority of these men don't deserve to be treated or judged this way. It is about as hurtful to most men as being called a whore or a slut.

Men won't show it but I think alot of women don't realize (especially women who haven't been in a relationship in a while) that men have the same emotions and feelings that they do.

I don't think women realize how hurtful this can be to a man especially one who is in your social circle. To call him that is to pretty much judge him to be dangerous and once he is labeled a creep; the women in your social circle will avoid him and the men will follow suit. You should be flattered that most of these men are trying and shouldn't be so quick to judgement.

The word creep should be reserved to for the guy who follows you home through a dark alley running around with his wiener hanging out. It should be reserved for true stalker types. Because there are some really sick people out there and from what I have seen most of these guys that get labeled as such are FAR from it. Strange yes, awkward yes, annoying yes, ugly yes, old yes, but creeper.. not necessarily. You should really only call a guy this after you have made it clear that you have zero interest in him and he continues to pursue and harass you IMO.

Your thoughts are welcome.

Im a woman and I agree. I would never refer to some guy minding his own business as a creep, thats awful!!

Only time id refer to a guy as a creep is if he came on wayy too strong and acted...creepy!

your friends sound like bitches.

the trend was actually started by a man (calling himself a creep).

I do not use the word at all actually, well maybe when I am on about the horror film, but that is it.

Re: Do women throw around the word "creep" a little too liberally?
noun
noun: creep; plural noun: creeps
1.
informal
-a detestable person.
-a person who behaves in an obsequious way in the hope of advancement.

Well, I guess it is pretty easy to label someone that considering the definition of the word- a detestable person- is pretty vague and left to each person's subjective opinion to determine what a creep is. What the hell is a creep?

The second part. I had to look that word up lol
obsequious-
obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree.

What? Now I'm really confused

I'm such a creep

By that second part of the definition, it sounds like guys who are well liked by women but in the friend zone are the biggest creeps of all. The are completely servile and obedient to try to advance with women. That makes sense. It's what I always suspected haha

Most men creep around on Facebook looking at women they can never get with.

OP, I doubt you have a gf or friends that are 10's.

You sound like a creeper.

OP is a creeper. Most likely has been called a creep by many women. And rightly so.

Re: Do women throw around the word "creep" a little too liberally?
Your girlfriend and her friends sound young. It's usually the younger women, who get alot of attention, that throw the word 'creep' around, usually because with all the stares of longing they get from males, they always feel like they have a target on their backs. It's true that probably 90% of the guys that get the creep title from them, are just normal everyday guys, but perhaps, staring too long at the girl makes her uncomfortable and nervous. She never knows which ones will actually turn out to be stalker creeps.

Don't take it too seriously, as it is more of a defense mechanism for them when they are feeling too vulnerable.

I never say it.

If a guy hits on me..whether I am attracted or not, I find it flattering so I am not usually rude to them either way.

If some guido comes in and thinks he is Gods gift and is looking for the next notch on his bedpost...well...then he is just an idiot. Not a creeper.

Re: Do women throw around the word "creep" a little too liberally?
it is ALL ABOUT the womens's sexual choice;

if you are a stud, and she wants to fuck you, virtually ANY behavior will be tolerated. he can't loose.
they even get away with DATE RAPE. STUDS, SPECIALIZE in date rape.

if you are a NOT a stud, and she DOES NOT want to fuck you, SHE WILL FIND SOME FAULT, with virtually ANY behavior.
he can't win.

then, since it she is perfect, IN HER OWN MIND,
the problem must be with the man being 'creepy' or a 'pervert'.
(as if wanting sex is unnatural)
the problem could NEVER BE; "this guy turns me off, so i will just treat him like shit, so he will go away, and stay away.
(untill / unless i need something NONSEXUAL, THEN I WILL CALL HIM, AND HE WILL COME RUNNING)

Possibly...by younger girls who have not yet learned to ignore the unwanted attentions of men everywhere. It's disconcerting and they just haven't learned to handle it politely yet. Don't take it personally. But you might try becoming a little more self-aware.

Never been called a "creep" but nearly every girl I try to get with pulls the "Lets just be friends" line.

White women seem to have 3 or possibly 4 categories of men...

Creeps, Pricks, Jerks and Bastards.

Asshole seems to be a subgroup of Jerk.

Douchebag seems to be a subgroup of Pricks and Creeps.

Bastard and Prick seem to be used by older women mostly.
