4 crippled Fukushima reactors dogged with 3.4 quadrillion becquerels of tritium
TEPCO reported the estimate at a meeting of the government's task force on tritium. Of the 3.4 quadrillion becquerels at the No. 1 to 4 reactors, about 2.5 quadrillion becquerels were detected in melted nuclear fuel, 834 trillion becquerels in contaminated water stored on the premises, about 50 trillion becquerels in stagnant water in reactor and turbine buildings, and about 46 trillion becquerels in water in trenches -- or underground tunnels from the basements of structures to seawalls.

This is just your Opinion but invalid!
(Because it is very doubtful that you have a full Picture)

Today a big Congress started where they talk about the Fuel Removable only, there are Teams of/ from (?) 6 different Nations working on Solutions!

the spent fuel pool is one thing

3 melted cores is a whole separate issue

best of luck to Japan I hope something can be figured out. but frankly, we're 1000+ days into this accident and things look worse each passing day.

This Congress is about the molten Fuel only!

The Spend Fuel is a easy going Problem compared to that Issue!

By the Way our glorious Tepco removed ca. 50% of the Nr. 4 Spend Fuel already!

"The Things" (the Accident) look much better now than in the first Month after the Tsunami, you must be out of a Imagination when you think it is worse!

Remember we nearly lost our Home but now we have a huge chance to solve the Problem as well as collecting important Information, experience and Knowledge for the next Accident and potential Catastrophe!

Fukushima happened for a Reason!

Jeez Atom, you're making threads again?

Ever the optimist, even when you post a bleak assessment and argue with anyone who takes the whole 3.4 quadrillion becquerels as a negative thing.

Funny how this is the only Fuku update in months that hasn't been one-starred to shit in the first 30 seconds.

And why do you keep saying "we"? I'm pretty sure you're foreign to Japan these days.

Although the "our glorious Tepco" was fucking hilarious until I realized you weren't being sarcastic.

yeah this whole thread reads like propaganda

I love the Japanese but this OP is either shilling, willfully ignorant, or both.

we can call congressional sessions until the cows come home. bottom line, there hasn't been a solution to 3 coriums for over 1000 days. there is no solution.

humans & robots cannot even get close enough to capture the cores on film. we have no idea where they are, how much radiation has leaked into the atmosphere, or how to solve this mess.

BTW your article has nothing to do with a congressional hearing. it's 4 paragraphs of numbers that all sound pretty bad.

1.) We need to wait a few more Years (see the Roadmap)

2.) We "could" remove the first cold Layer of the Coria,
the outer Mantel, and wait again until the next Layer is ready to remove

3.) I am not such a Scientist but in Sociology,
so it is stupid to ask me when in the same moment hundreds of People,
who know, discussing this Problem!

4.) I was talking about "a Congress" and not a "congressional Meeting",
i added this just for the purpose of Information for you only but your Reaction is very typical for the "Weak Ones" always criticizing but never ever provide Ideas!

Sounds big but is Peanuts compared to Fukushima's or Chernobyl's Initial Release, also you should not forget/misunderstand that 2,5 Quadrillion Bq are still, more or less, solid inside of the Fuel, they would be there even in unmolten Fuel!

How in the blue fuck do you propose this is to be done

Your dear leaders have NO CLUE where in the batshit the coriums are.

There is NO to limited, LIMITED, technology. Correction, ZERO technology that can last any resonable amount of time near the melted fuel. The dose rates coming off of them would be in the MILLIONS of REM/h.

If the technology was available, they would have been digging already for them. Guess what.. its not and they have NO CLUE what to do EVEN when they do find them.

Spent fuel from a nuclear reactor gives off dose rates around 2 to 3 million REM/h. You would die within an hour if you were in the vicinity of the fuelling machine or fuel duct.

NO robot and for the technical aspect, NO COMPUTER OR ELECTRONICS can take those dose rates. They would be scrap in minutes. They would simply stop working. The amount of energy coming off the corium is MASSIVE and it would fry electronics without effort. NOT TO MENTION it would weaken the steel/aluminum so fast, whatever robot that spends any significant time near the fuel would essentially break apart.

YOU SIR ARE LIVING IN A FANTASY LAND.

I know what i speak of. It is my job to know these things and i have no reason to BS you and toss out random facts.

BTW. There is NO tritium in the molten fuel or solid corium.

Only gamma radiation and alpha particles.

Tritium is made ONLY by neutron bombardment of water which will create H3 "tritium"

And tritium is the least of your concerns. Its a pure beta emitter yes. But it has a short half life in your system. Less then 12 days for a one time exposure.

12.5 years outside of your system.

What you should be concerned about is gamma rays and hot particles. Hot particles will give you a very bad day in a VERY short amount of time.

a.) it is not pure Fuel, you Noob
but a Melange of Metals from the Rods, Control Rods and Tubes from the Inside, get your Facts straight when you try to Troll a Thread!

b.) The Coria of all three Cores need much more Time,
the Roadmap do not plan to touch anything inside for the next 10 Years at least, until this Time we just cool the Core as planned

You need to understand that we think in a different Dimension
and this is not that easy to understand when you talk with intellectual handicapped people like you!

c.) Nuclear Fuel is not a endless Source of Energy,
go and Research it.

d.) We know where the Fuel is not and this led to a Conclusion,
the Fuel is not sitting on Top of Disney Land, not on the left Side of Daiichi
and also not on the right Side, also we know that the Fuel is not out of the Containment, main difference between reliable Sources is that we do not give a Statement until we are 100% sure,

the Fuel is not sitting on Top of Disney Land, not on the left Side of Daiichi
and also not on the right Side, also we know that the Fuel is not out of the Containment, main difference between reliable Sources is that we do not give a Statement until we are 100% sure,
we are different from you, Honey!

2.) We "could" remove the first cold Layer of the Coria,
the outer Mantel, and wait again until the next Layer is ready to remove

It is my job to know these things and i have no reason to BS you and toss out random facts.

a.) it is not pure Fuel, you Noob
but a Melange of Metals from the Rods, Control Rods and Tubes from the Inside, get your Facts straight when you try to Troll a Thread!

b.) The Coria of all three Cores need much more Time,
the Roadmap do not plan to touch anything inside for the next 10 Years at least, until this Time we just cool the Core as planned

Sounds big but is Peanuts compared to Fukushima's or Chernobyl's Initial Release, also you should not forget/misunderstand that 2,5 Quadrillion Bq are still, more or less, solid inside of the Fuel, they would be there even in unmolten Fuel!

Now he tells us!

You used to troll here saying the explosions were perfectly safe!

Go away shill.

He also spent months utterly denying there were meltdowns.

He still says all cores are within containment. Hah. Sooner or later he won't be able to substantiate that either, and he'll pretend he never said it.

Show us anything like this!
Where do i said it, post a Link, Bump it up!
(no Melt-Downs)

People like you pushed the Idea that the Coria is heating up the Pacific Ocean in front of Daiichi, that much that we see the boiling Sea!

Rofl you and your Clan are similar to stupid, clerical fascistic Muselmans ,
you are worse than Tepcos CEO
