Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57805490 Is your father being a loving father by beating you to show you the way? Well? There is beating someone, then there is physical punishment using lashes, belt, switch, paddle in an appropriate manner... I was subjected to being spanked by many of those items. I thank my dad for correcting me in this manner, because in every case, I was wrong. I hold no ill will toward my dad for doing this; quite the opposite in fact. My dad never struck me without good cause and he only did so on my behind with one of the items I mentioned above. He never did it out of rage or malice. My three siblings received their fair share of punishment as well when they required physical correction. So, to answer your question. NO, I would not say your father is loving if he is beating you, but if he is chastising you correctly, then YES, most definitely he is showing that he loves you. |

My dad in turn never drank or abused anyone physically, but he was very indifferent with my grandfather from what I remember. Most everyone just tolerated him but nobody stopped loving him. Even my grandmother who suffered the most by him, he beat up the boy she loved and told her that if she didn't marry him he would kill the other boy. So my grandmother married him so the boy she loved could live. When you find a piece of shit along side the road and you poke it with a stick, what do you expect to find inside of it, gold? No, it's just going to stink more. |

Love your abuser? Hebrews 12:6-11 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives. If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. |

User ID: 2158535 United States 05/12/2014 01:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mom beat my ass when I was bad, because she loved me. She instilled within me a sense of consequence for my actions. I love her with all my heart. Society was better because of it. I am better because of it. Just yesterday, I saw a child whose mom complained loudly about her child's horrible behavior and then turned right around and rewarded it by caving to the child's noisy demands for treats. I have seen this a million times over. Children have no sense of consequence because libtards equate correction with abuse. They'll piss and moan about how terrible and unruly children are today, and yet they refuse (or are too mentally retarded) to see that they are the root cause. I'm not so naive as to believe that physical abuse is not a problem, but abuse comes in a variety of flavors, and rearing a child with no respect or sense of consequence is just as abusive, IMO. These children tend to grow even more awful than the people that raise them. That's why each generation grows progressively worse. People whine about the fallout, but don't own up to their failure as parents. They cry, "I don't understand why my child is so bad! I did everything I could. I'm a good parent and gave them everything they wanted! I don't understand why my child is so rebellious - why my child hates me - why my child does drugs - why my child has sex-... blah blah blah..." Physical abuse is beating your child without love or direction, in spite and anger... I carried on my family tradition. I have a firm but very loving relationship with my children and they respect me. They are not maladjusted or spiteful. They know when they screw up and they know when there will be consequences. That will carry through into their adulthood. I love my kids and I always let them know it. Therein lies the difference. |
