Re: the answer to the questions of existence
so what are we ? are we the personality or the individuality or are we something else ? our origin have always been a mystery however if we form a synthesis we can see that our being is like a screen where the individuality project its thoughts and emotions, its feeling and desires if we ask it to otherwise it will leave us alone

the personality however forces its opinion on us and if we do not ask the individuality to manifest itself through us the persona will take control pronto

Isn't the personality the water that feeds the tree, makes it grow?
 Quoting: Mercury11

the personality is part of the tree actually it sinks deep into the ground in search for minerals and nutriment.

what it gives us is raw materials that our individuality transform into beautiful leaves, flowers and fruits

so the personality is the vessel through which the individuality manifest itself and distribute its wealth.

to make it easier the individuality's point of view is always in our interest and that of the universe

the personality's point of you is egocentric and it expect the world to turn around it
 Quoting: Fellow of the rose

Then having a personality is very necessary !
 Quoting: Mercury11

that's why nature allowed it to exist. it must be put to work for the glory of the individuality.

if we are not vigilant and we give it free reign, it will drag us to the underworld where it draw power.

the whole science is to stay aware and lucid and adopt the point of view of the individuality. it must be a conscious choice to always want to identify with our higher self, with the divine. then as we thinketh so we becometh

It is common, wanting to feel good about what one thinks, but it leads to an empty place. The sentiments above are feel good sentiments.

Reason is the power of the mind that leads to delusion.

I am not a follower of the Christian faith, perhaps you are, perhaps not. No matter, the OT book of Genesis however might offer an apt metaphor for which I am speaking:

The 'forbidden fruit' of the 'tree of knowledge' is reason.
It is when the one becomes two, the rise of duality. I think I recall correctly that it is the Gospel of Thomas that has Jesus saying: "when the two become one........." etc etc that you enter the kingdom. I hope you can see inside this metaphor to illustrate that which I speak.

the individuality emerge from under the personality and become sovereign.

to be more exact we identify with the individuality rather then identifying with the personality.

Wrong. Enlightenment comes from the ridding of oneself's individuality. One must adopt universality and understand that one life resonates within all. To be individual is to lock oneself away in the realm of the material.

that's what i'm saying the personality manifests itself through the lower mind as intellect leading to delusion

individuality manifest itself as wisdom through the mind, as love through the heart and truth through the will

we ate from the tree and now we are in this duality. it is up to us to chose the middle way that is straight and narrow.

our higher self, the individuality is the light that can show the way out of the elusion to the land of truth.

these are not feel good words, they come from the heart.

when we say individuality or higher self we are pointing to the divine, and to my knowledge only the creator exist, and through The Most Kind Sovereign Truth we live and draw nourishment. so we don't exist only the holly spirit can say I am and that's what we are trying to identify with.

Lower mind, higher miind, etc etc words the mind uses to lead one down the endless labyrinth of too much thinking.

Let me leave one more comment, or suggestion really, and in part it comes from the unlikely world of physics:

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein

My comment is: we cannot use thinking at all. It is like thenreasonable language of wind and water. We think in words, and reason orders our thoughts. There are other languages too, we all have known them from time to time in moments of calm but only in the slipstream of reason. Hearing them is not hard but learning to listen is. The body knows these languages, if we let it listen. The water talking to the lake, the wind to the trees, the river to the mountains. It is not body language but body knowledge, it is beyond reason, it is timeless and deep.

Peace.

Re: the answer to the questions of existence
Personality is a mask only when you use it to hide your true self, if you act within certain parameters of behaviour because you have things you don't want others to know about, then you are wearing the mask that conceals yourself from the world. But if your personality reflects the truth within your heart and mind, both the ugly and the beautiful parts, then the mask is really your true face.

Anyone who has played the Shin Megami Tensei Persona games will recognize these truths about existence, the games themselves were highly influenced by Jung's ideas of conciousness and archetypal psychology.

Re: the answer to the questions of existence
let us study how our lower self, the personality, was formed.

the origin of the personality is in the spirit : it is the spirit that emanated it.
in the beginning there was the spirit, and when the spirit wanted to manifest it self it fashioned vehicles adapted to regions of matter that are more and more dense in which the spirit descend. we will call these vehicles bodies and they are, from the subtlest to the thickest, atmic body, buddhic body casual body, which correspond to the higher self, the individuality; then you have the mental body, the astral body and the physical body which correspond to the lower self, the personality. i know i wrote it before but its kind off important to know.

the physical body, the astral(body of feelings) and the mental body(body of thoughts) reproduce on a lower level the functions of the atmic, buddhic, and casual body.

which reason are you talking about ? the one dictated by society or the mental faculty of a person. if your intellect is there to serve your personality then yes it is a maze that lead to error. however if it is the higher self that is manifesting itself through your mind, i guaranty that reason becomes like a spotlight that can guide your way

Re: the answer to the questions of existence
so how can we dethrone the personality and restore it to its right place, the faithful servant of the individuality ?

well you see the personality is like the maid who got all the keys, no one knows its way around like it, so we should not cast it out or starve it to death, we should feed it just enough for it to survive and we should control it, so it does not drive us to our doom.

and the best way to controlling it is to call upon the individuality to act through us. you need to really wish it and it will manifest through you.

that's the difference between them two, the individuality never acts unless you ask it to, while the personality invite all its friends from the underworld to defile and consume you.

i think that's why all the initiates advised us to be vigilant and try to stay conscious as much as possible, because we need to distinguish which nature is manifesting itself through us.

Re: the answer to the questions of existence
speaking of choices i can help you find the way

you see in this life there is two point of views, the spiritual and the materialist

the personality is materialist it wants to amass riches and satisfy pleasures even on the expense of others. it has no moral value.

the individuality tells us that everything is alive and we are all connected. it show us the mystery language of living nature and reveal to us the treasures of the spirit.

make a conscious choice toward your spirit open your heart to the cosmic ocean of love and let it wash all the pain away.

a beautiful future await us all.
