No one can tell the future accurately. Future is shaped according to out feelings and our feelings are ever changing.
Proof?
There have been 1000s upon 1000s of prophecies regarding our present times and none so far have come true. This is because humanity is growing and with each step of humanity's growth, predictions become more diverse.
Prophecies of ww1 and ww2 were slightly on a different domain. They were clear cut set plays to speak that were set in stone and less likely to divert and more likely to happen.
I'll give you an example.
Building a house has to have a foundation. Almost all in the know will agree that before a house is built, foundation must be poured. So everyone can predict what will happen.
Fast forward to the house nearly finished. It would be difficult for anyone to predict the colours of the rooms, settings of furniture etc etc.
A few can come close, and fewer will guess right. But generally they will not be able to see the final refined results as accurately as predicting the setting of foundation of the house.
This is why there are so many prophecies regarding present times and none have been correct

Actually, that is not quite true. I have done a lot of research regarding the Mahdi. It was a point of my interest for a time.
The opposite of what you say is believed in Iran. It is the media that are twisting the whole thing.
From what I understood during my research, the sufi sect of islam in Iran believe that the outside physical world is a direct reflection of collective human consciousness. Thus feeling of kindness will reflect on to physical reality.
The appearance of the so called Mahdi can only happen when love and want of love is strong in human consciousness. Because, Mahdi, Jesus , krishna etc will appear, respond, materialise as a direct reflection of consciousness.
I also listened to Ahmadinejads interview with christian Amanpour (spelling?) And he was saying the very same thing.
It was then I realised that western media were actually manipulating the whole idea to the opposite for sake of propeganda.
All in all I think that Iran is not a threat. Real threat is from the elite, corporations, banking sector etc etc who do not wish to see peace on earth or they will lose their profits.
If anything I'd say tptb are the greatest threat to the world than any other nation.
