''With the likes of isoHunt shutting shop, and The Pirate Bay blocked by ISPs in some countries, the humble torrent has been facing a torrid time of late. And the landscape just got a little more ugly, with news that...''

It's ok for them cause they are part of 'the gang'

The internet is becoming : facebook, youtube, twitter, Google, etc...

Less little guys = less competition for traffic/revenue and easier to watch our every move.

They are shutting stations AND actually reducing personnel? They aren't just giving them new fancy names like TSA in bigger offices somewhere else?

Re: Torrent forced offline following UK police request
There are dozens if not hundreds of way to get around internet blocks.

The day The Pirate Bay was blocked did not affect me in the least. I use it still to this day, along with EZTV and any other torrent sites I wish to browse.

Our intellectually deficient politicians just can't seem to get their heads around what the internet actually is.

Always....lol

Someone will always open a torrent tracker or nzb indexer , there will always be different proxies to use , or even VPN's to to hide your traffic , there will always be a way ...

Remember when napster went down ? Everyone thought 'free' stuff had ended....well that was over 10 years ago , new technology and methods will always beat the ISP's and Govs , they are too slow at implementing blocks...by the time they have , people have moved to other means....

Coming from a 'pirate' the only way to beat us , is to make the product more accessible from the start ie , make spotify/ netflix / hulu /amazon /bbc /sky /etc /etc content accessable world wide , as soon as realised /aired..at a reasonable price...

Then people will think again...

^ Precisely.

I only watch a handful of shows, why should I sign up to Sky for £90 a month just to watch Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead?

If these were offered on an episode or season pass on demand basis, I would be more than happy to pay but Old Media is still wrapped up in its packaging obsession.
