Question for Australian business owners or lawyers
Hello,
I work for an online faxing company, we're part of an American company that is taking over similar cloud-based telecom companies in OZ, and we keep hearing about something called a 'deed of novation'. This deed apparently requires that, upon taking over a company, the new owners have to adhere to the same terms and conditions as the previous owners? We're getting a lot of push back from our customers, and they keep saying something about a deed of novation, and how we have to honor the T&C that they previously had.

I mentioned this to my supervisor, and he seems to be unconcerned. I'm curious, however, because some of my customers are very earnest in their rebuttals, and this is coming from a lot of AU customers. If you have any insight, do let me know. My management seems confident that we're sufficiently lawyered up, but my curiosity remains.
