Thread: Who needs CISSPA when the whole world decides to 'crack down' on data privacy?

Who needs CISSPA when the whole world decides to 'crack down' on data privacy?

I work for a very large phrama company. A few days ago we had a mandatory briefing on Data Privacy.

It became very clear in the first 30 minutes that the rules they are implementing (between Europe's strict data privacy laws and transfer of data across borders) will shortly cause the paralyzation of the internet.

Of course that won't stop major companies from swapping data in secret or governments from spying on you, but it will make it nearly impossible for small businesses to take advantage of the global marketplace without breaching these 'international' laws -- the fines and sanctions are very steep!

It is my humble opinion that all of this hullaballoo about the NSA (which most of us already knew about years ago) and now things like this:

Are only orchestrated talking points to get people behind the 'idea' of data privacy and the 'paralyzaton' of the internet for *our own safety*.

I hadn't really made up my mind about this until today, but it is my opinion that nothing will stop these people from getting what they want and if they cannot convince our congress to enact a CISSPA-like referendum then they will simply go around it and force the US to comply with everyone else, thereby enacting by default.
