Natural waters where you can swim in California...creeks, rivers, lakes....

There is a beach on the Russian river, right near Bohemian Grove.

That is a bit far from me, but thanks anyway...

California is a big place.

Some may want to help out BUT in your ignorance you didn't tell us WHAT PART OF CALI you want to go to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would Far northern cali be good for you I know of MANY MANY streams in the area?!!!!

Idid it on purpose...I thought I can get more info from more people from different parts of CA and help others looking for the same.

Been on the search since last summer. Haven't come up with any good ones. Here's all that I know of.

La Jolla Indian Campground
Northeast of Escondido
Crowded

Hell hole canyon
Northeast of Escondido
Not crowded, small swimming hole, hard to find, hard to get to

Lake Elsinore
North of Murrieta
Crowded, lots of speed boats

Wisconsin
Find a lake within 5 miles any direction.

Thanks for trying, but none of these allows swimming.

Also, Vail Lake, off of 79 East of Temecula. Resort membership but they'd probably let you try before you buy. Across from Dripping Springs Campground.

The waters of California have been contaminated for years, and the government lets people swim at their own risk.

People get sick swimming in polluted waters (losing a kidney or two), or didn't you know?

Kern River, but it's not going to be a good year due to the drought. even the outfitters are switching from rafts to tubes. it's really supposed to be down after this month, June.

We used to go tubing down the rapids just below Cloverdale. Best time of my life.

Google Earth is your friend:

Barrett Lake, Lake Morena, (there is a lovely valley that goes between those two places (about a 6.5 mile long trail).

Loveland Reservoir looks pretty nice.

All 3 of those places are within 40 miles of downtown San Diego.

Get a California map.

Look for blue.

Swim.

For all you guys that are posting reservoirs....

In California, it is illegal to swim in reservoirs. Ducks and fish can, but humans can't.

It's a tad more complicated than just bringing up google maps.

I am ignorant of California laws since I don't live anywhere near that State. I'll leave it up to the OP to find out what is or is not legal to do in their state.

Water -especially pure, natural water - is more, than just a compound of H and O - it is sacred, it is a carrier of information, it has several still unexplained properties.

Little known fact for instance, that dipping in water is an very effective way of eliminating the effect of radiation from our body.

Baths has been healing centers for thousands of years, and still are in most of the countries of Europe and Asia.

In the us we just shower at home, soaking in the bathtub counts as a special occasion treat.

Of course I did...most beaches are crowded, no natural surroundings, like trees, bushes, birds, bees plus the water is cold most of the time
