snake infestation, what to do?
I just moved here to a highly wooded area and the property has been in repo for over a year. I have killed two Corn snakes and encountered a black snake today, but it slithered off before it meet it's demise. You think they will just disperse as I get more lawn care done? or should I do more? I'm really am not into snakes when they are in the yard, they belong in the woods and I'm fine with them there.

you don't have a snake problem, you have a rat problem, just let the snakes be until you clear the brush

Seriously OP. Black snakes are the only ones you should tolerate. Their immune to most others venom.

Why would you kill corn or black snakes?
All they do is eat rodents, thye don't hurt any one or anything. You want to get rid of the snakes, get rid of the mice and rats you have around, that's what's bringing them.
Come winter, when your house is over run with field mice, you might wish you had left the snakes alone.

Snakes eat baby birds, therefore they must executed on sight.

Get a machete and chop away, they usually run from machinery though, if you keep the brush down with a mower that should get rid of most.

Kingsnakes are known to eat other species of snakes, though I'm assuming by your OP you just want no snakes lol. Honestly a pet ferret may be a good idea.

If anything, OP, think this: "OMG! Belts! Belts and shoes as far as the eye can see! Maybe a long and stringy dinner, but at least I got belts! Hey! Wait, get back here! Don't you go slithering away from me, belts!".
Conspiracy Theorist is nothing more than a derogatory title used to dismiss a critical thinker.

and when they see someone who is not mad,
they will attack him, saying,
'You are mad; you are not like us."

I remember when my milk snake escaped and I had given up finding him and one night after I climbed in bed under the covers, I suddenly felt a smooth cold object sliding over my legs. I jumped up and it was snakey! I was thrilled!

And yes, they do climb things like beds and get under your covers, especially if it's cold.

This. leave them alone. Not only do they take care of the vermin but they keep rattlesnakes away.

They aren't dangerous, rodents are.

Re: snake infestation, what to do?
Run a generator, lawn mower, or heavy diesel engine several times a day in the area. Snakes don't like the vibrations and will move away from it. Keep clearing the area around the house and you'll create a relatively rodent and snake free zone.

Nature will remain, but will back off by a few hundred feet. Human activity is not generally appreciated by the snakes.
