Homeowners Insurance Company Will Not Pay A Claim ! HELP !!! Update Page 3.

If any of you all have had to fight to get your homeowners insurance to pay a claim, please chime in !

My middle daughter and her family had substantial damage to their home from the storm here on Mothers Day. We had high winds and half dollar size hail. It damaged our house too, but nothing compared to my daughters house. My daughters roof was essentially destroyed, her awning had over 50 dents in it, and her siding was damaged, with one section actually popped up and almost off,on the side of the house.Her eaves had the trim torn away, and half the shingles are off the roof.She has water damage in my granddaughters bedroom, and in the living room.
An adjuster from the insurance company came to her house a week after the storm, on Memorial Day, and checked the damage, took pictures, etc. The next day 2 more adjusters and a supervisor came over to check her house. They didn't know that the other adjuster was there the day before until we told them. They did not know him, as he was a private contractor employed by the insurance company.
Long story short,last week my daughter talked to her agent. She said that the checks (2 payments, one to start the work, and one payable on completion of the work), were drafted on the 13th of June, and she should be hearing something soon. The insurance agent even gave her the dollar amount of the 1st check.
Yesterday, the 21st of June, she got a letter in the mail, dated the 10th of June, from the original adjuster for the insurance company. The letter says the claim is denied because the damage was pre-existing !!!

From what i hear, we can ask for an appeal, and also file a complaint downstate. We are in Indiana.
