I'd choose Chattanooga, it's close to some great white water rivers that are a blast to paddle.

Re: Is Tennessee a Good Place to Live / Retire?
I live in murfreesboro tn. It is just south of Nashville and I think it's awesome. I'm 28 and moved from Germany to middle Tennessee. I have lived here half of my life. 14 years and running. I'm not a big fan of big cities anyway. If you lobe nature then I would advise moving here. The landscapes are beautiful. My favorite place to go is monteagle mountain to eat at Jim Olivers smokehouse. They have the best all you can eat barbecue buffet. I used to work there for a few years. All in all Tennessee has Nashville and country music, many arks, Graceland in Memphis and many other attractions. Don't let anyone fool you if they say it aucks because they probably have never lived here. The best thing is there isnt many ghettos down here. LOL. Depending were you move. If you move to the mountains it is so secluded you will never be bothered. So all in all I hope you move here because I know you will enjoy it. Good Luck.

You are right on everything except that the Smokehouse is a gross restaurant.I am a foodie and it is one of the worst I have ever tried.
