Actually the reporter is correct and the TSA agent is wrong, the District of Columbia is not part of the United States and it is not governed under the United States. It is its' own entity.

TSA Agents are the people that Burger King won't hire.

I spoke on the phone with some customer service lady one time who refused to believe me when I told he DC wasn't part of any state, it was the federal district,the capitol city of the U.S.
