Anonymous Coward User ID: 44325972 United States 07/30/2014 03:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | INCUBATION PERIOD: Two to 21 days, more often 4 – 9 days. COMMUNICABILITY: Communicable as long as blood, secretions, organs, or semen contain the virus. Ebola virus has been isolated from semen 61 days after the onset of illness, and transmission through semen has occurred 7 weeks after clinical recovery. SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: The virus can survive in liquid or dried material for a number of days. Infectivity is found to be stable at room temperature or at 4°C for several days, and indefinitely stable at -70°C. PRIMARY HAZARDS: Accidental parenteral inoculation, respiratory exposure to infectious aerosols and droplets, and/or direct contact with broken skin or mucous membranes. ...In other words, an infected person can be asymptomatic, shedding virus in mucus or sputum, and a simple cough or sneeze is a proven transmission vector... Great, just great! Obviously the TSA proved their worth in this case. You GLPers are always demanding "real doom", well here it is, kiddies. |

How many people were on the flight where Patrick Sawyer vomited etc? At least 100? We don't know where all these passengers are - some may well be infected. This is enough to spell true DOOM. Plus how could every area of the airport in Nigeria be disinfected. Also there is a doctor strike on in Nigeria now. I think this is the real deal. Thoughts....yes...no....maybe....? |

I was reading another story that one or two people were tested in the UK since they had been in Africa recently, one flew to the uk via Paris, and had early symptoms but the news source said their tests were negative. I don't trust the test. What if it's just too early for the virus to show up on the test? Anyway, I have two relatives that are currently in Europe on vacation. I'm not sure where they are now but they were flying into Paris and spending a week and then they were taking a hopper to london and spending a week before fkying home. I just told my spouse that they need to keep their asses away from us for at least a month after they get back. I don't give a damn if it hurts their feelings. The safety of my children is worth more than these assholes feelings. If I were them there is no way I'd get on a plane at this point. I'd sit tight and ride this out minimizing my exposure to the public over there. They are deluded positive thinkers though and will no doubt downplay this. Whatever as long as they stay the hell away from my family. |

Through the fear of death, you will attempt to save your soul and life and in the process you will show zero mercy to those in need. As the adversary declares "A man will give all that he has to save his OWN soul". These media darlings like global pandemics and global warming have hundreds of millions already willing to commit genocide through their fear of death. Of course, as long as they are not on the list. Really look at your post. You do not give a damn about people that are your family. So you certainly have even harsher feelings about your fellow man. |

There is not a single living soul (or dead soul) who is more valuable to me than my kids. My kids and their little lives mean more to me than anything. They are the only thing/people I'd give my own life for. My relatives can taking a flying leap for all I care. Besides my relatives would be selfish pieces of shit to expose others to the possibility of Ebola but I can guarantee you that they won't even think twice about it. I sure am though and they will be staying the hell away from us. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55697937 that's right, FULL Face respirators...why? Because it's a bio4 pathogen? Because they are working in open air huts, and dealing with a bio4 pathogen where are they at risk every second of every hour they are near the place? Because they are dealing with patients who's viral load is 10 to the 64th in 1/200th of a cc of body fluid? Because of bloody "projectile vomiting", and "projectile, violent diarrhea"? Because we touch our face about a zillion times a day, and if they have 1/200th of a cc of shit/blood/vomit or other body fluids on their gloves and touch their face they risk exposure/illness/disease/death? I could go on. |

It says "a number of days" followed by (23) which is a source they are siting, not the number of days they are referring to. See the next ( ) in the statement: "SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: The virus can survive in liquid or dried material for a number of days (23). Infectivity is found to be stable at room temperature or at 4°C for several days, and indefinitely stable at -70°C (6, 20). Infectivity can be preserved by lyophilisation. Also, that the airborne transmission has not been proven or considered a common mode of transmission. |
