Liberian Official: Ebola Outbreak ‘Is Above The Control Of The National Government’
“Our government has declared this now as a humanitarian crisis that is above the control of the national government,” Tolbert Nyenswah, Liberia’s assistant minister of health, told CBS News.
More than 700 people have died in four western African nations during the largest Ebola outbreak ever, with over 320 known cases in Liberia alone. One American died while contracting the virus in Liberia. Two other American medical missionary workers also contracted Ebola.
“This virus, if it is not taken care of, will be a global pandemic,” Nyenswah told CBS News, calling for more international aid to help treat the sick and stop the spreading of the disease.
The Peace Corps has now temporarily evacuated 340 volunteers from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone after two members were exposed to the virus. CBS News reports those two volunteers have been isolated.
This comes as two North Carolina-based missionary groups have ordered the evacuation of their non-essential personnel from Liberia after a doctor and a missionary contracted Ebola.

CDC ISSUES EBOLA AIRLINE ADVISORY
Guidelines warn of 'severe, often-fatal disease'

Read more at [link to mobile.wnd.com]
NEW YORK – Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is on record that Ebola poses little risk to the U.S. population, the agency still published guidance for airline flight crews, cleaning personnel and cargo workers regarding safe handling of infected passengers.

The advisory begins by describing Ebola as “a severe, often-fatal disease” that while rare, can spread from person to person, especially among health-care staff and other people who have close contact with an infected person.

The advisory then notes the likelihood of contracting Ebola is extremely low unless a person has direct contact with the bodily fluids of a person or animal that is infected and showing symptoms.

Trying to dampen fears of travel to West Africa, the location of the current outbreak, the advisory comments that a fever in a person who has traveled or lived in an area where Ebola is present is “likely to be caused by a more common infectious disease, but the person would need to be evaluated by a health care provider to be sure.”

To assist in the identification of Ebola symptoms, the CDC provided the following description of how the infection operates:

The incubation period, from exposure to when signs or symptoms appear, for Ebola ranges from 2 to 21 days. Early symptoms include sudden fever, chills, and muscle aches. Around the fifth day, a skin rash can occur. Nausea, vomiting, chest pain, sore throat, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may follow. Symptoms become increasingly severe and may include jaundice (yellow skin), severe weight loss, mental confusion, shock, and multi-organ failure.

You're mixing it up. It is a different strain that is 90%, this strain is 60%.

Ebola typically kills 90% of those infected with the virus, but the death rate in this outbreak has dropped to roughly 60% thanks to early treatment.

No they aren't.

Ebola has no vaccine and no specific treatment, with a fatality rate of at least 60 percent.

I was having a discussion with a friend regarding how they cull chickens and pigs when they have H1N1 or H5N1 and that this over-reaction could extend to human population in the wake of a serious outbreak of a bad disease like ebola.

Which makes me wonder, do you think if it gets bad they will start to cull the humans like they do other animals to stop the spread?

How this will be handled by the world will be interesting because it's a real threat to the global population should it take hold.

Sierra Leone today declared a public health emergency to tackle the worst-ever outbreak of Ebola and will call in security forces to quarantine areas of the deadly virus.
President Ernest Bai Koroma said the measures resembled a tough anti-Ebola package announced by neighbouring Liberia last night.
Koroma also announced he was cancelling a visit to Washington for a U.S.-Africa summit next week because of the crisis.
The move came as world's premier health charity issued a grave warning about the likely spread of the deadly Ebola virus - an epidemic it fears 'can only get worse'.
Doctors Without Borders (aka Médecins Sans Frontières [MSF]) says the threat of the disease spreading beyond western Africa, where it was first detected in Guinea in February, is frighteningly real and said it was 'absolutely out of control'.

Ok...lets get this straight! Ebola has no know cure...it has a 90% mortality rate, however, if treatment is started early, it bring that rate down to 60%.

Don't worry the President isn't

"President Obama still plans to convene a three-day summit in Washington for leaders of African countries even though the continent is experiencing an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus, a White House spokesman said Wednesday.

The U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit is scheduled for Monday through Wednesday of next week.

Obama has issued invitations for the summit to leaders in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone — the three countries experiencing the Ebola outbreak.

“As the CDC has said, this is not a risk to the U.S. at this time,” he said."

This ebola virus is zaire-ebola (ebov). Kill rate is 60-90 and in this case reason that death rate is about 60 is that patients came every day more and they count them too. I have heard couple people who have survived. Something tells that main ebola doctor dies also this virus and he get help really soon. You really dont have 40% chance to survive if you get this one...

A top official at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos, has said that one of the people who helped the 40-year-old Liberian,

Patrick Sawyer, on the Monrovia-Lome and Lome-Lagos flight may have been infected with the virus.

The reliable source, who is also on the team of experts monitoring the testing and surveillance of persons who have had contact with the late Liberian victim in Lagos, told our correspondent on Wednesday, that although they had yet to confirm, the person was showing feverish symptoms similar to that of Ebola virus.

He said, “We are still investigating and monitoring those who had first contact with Sawyer. One of the people who helped him off the plane is showing signs of fever, a symptom of Ebola. We have isolated them and we are carrying out various tests to establish if it is Ebola or not.”

However, when contacted the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina, denied that none of the people that had been isolated at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, was sick.

If you goggle Ebola mutated, you will see that in 2012 it did a mutation...this is a new form of Ebola and to date they are still not sure how is being spread..yes there are the usualls through droplets..but this virus could be one or more mutations to becoming the monster in the closest...

We all know from past experiences that the CDC and WHO are liars, they will drag this out till doomsday..best to get all your ducks in a row and be watchful of what is not being said rather then what is being said

and remember it is never a case of who, what, where but when

It only takes one person, on one plane or transport system..or for the upper thinkers to miss a key point and this could be global in a matter of 2 days

I highly suggest that all of you think of this as a pre Christmas run..check the pandemic list and check it twice for the supplies you will need...

As I head of to get yet one of the jobs done on my list of just in case this turns bad fast
