California community stumped by mystery animal caught on videotape

Mountain lions aren't that size/shaped like that. Look's like a female african lion, likely escaped / released from a private (illegal) pet owner. Probably not something to worry about, if it's been a pet it is much more tame than a wild lion. Anyone in the area should bring in their pets though.

Very cool! I we do have quite few mountain lions down here in the area. It's not to uncommon to see one while hiking the foothills and unfortunately a few people get attacked every year or so. That would usually be my first guess, but this one while obviously a cat, has some very different features than the mountain lions I've seen. The gate is a little off, which could be due to being a bit undernourished, but the dimensions of the head are completely different from a cougar. Could be the camera angle or low quality of the tape, but the square shaped head and pronounced jaw look a lot more like a lion lion to me. Moutain lions are usually stockier, and their head looks pretty much like an enlarged version of your common housecat. I hope he stays out of the city and doesn't end up on the wrong end of a county rifle.

This is so bizarre. My neighbor called me a couple of weeks ago and swore he saw something just like this. He was up at about 4:00a.m. for a long commute to work and it was still dark. We are in the inland empire of socal. He said that it was as big as a 50 or 60 lb. dog and moved like a cat and that the tail kind of went toward the ground and curled up at the end while it was walking. We are in a suburban area, in the Santa Ana Mountain range. He didn't get a pic. It moved away from him and disappeared into another neighbor's yard. He's not seen it since.

Believe me or not, this is exactly what I was told and I do believe him. There was another guy with him that saw it, too, they were carpooling due to distance to work.

The reason it's walking all slow-like is because it's an older dog. It's just a mutt. Probably a stray.

The dog caught in this "mystery animal" (it's no mystery that people are retarded) video has a tail that's too short and bushy for a white lion, let alone any other species of large cat. Even if this was a lion, how can you tell that it is a white lion? Just because it's "white" in the video? It's a black and white video. White lions are rare.

If you listened to the testimony of the man from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, he compared the size of the animal to nearby objects, in order to get an idea of it's size. If you pay close enough attention to the surrounding objects in this video, you will find that this animal is no bigger than a german shepherd.

Also, note the shape of the legs, arch of the back, shape of the head, and curve of the tail, all very canine-like.

Agree. Painfully obvious...not to mention you can easily tell by the color, shape, and it's tail...but even more specifically the head. THAT is an elephant.

You're trippin'. Who hasn't been around numerous dogs in their lifetime? That isn't a dog! LOL! If it wasn't white, it wouldn't show up like that. Look at the other objects in the video; it's not that hard to see that it's white.

The dog is obviously a light color, maybe blonde or light brown, but it has light shining on it, which makes it look really white. A lot of things in that video are white. The ground and the car are both white... In a black and white video.

If it's a cougar, african lion, or even leopard, then explain why it's tail is shorter and thicker than one of those large wild cats. At first glance, I weighed the possibility of it being a cougar. The tail (as well as some other physical features, but I don't think you "it's a cat" tards would be able to pick up on the "subtle" differences between a large dog and a large cat) proves that it's a dog.

When you see a "wild cat" in this video, you're seeing what you want to see.

In all seriousness and without speculation, it's certainly not a dog. It's just not. See them there whiskers, that's pretty telling, no? The way it moves, the thick legs -- it's not a dog. What it is -- ain't a dog.

Yeah, resembles a large standard poodle or more likely a labradoodle, in fact its gait resembles a labradoodle that I know.

The video is not clear enough to be able to show whiskers. If it's a wild cat, then how do you exaplain the shortness and thickness of the tail?

In order to learn that cannabis cures ebola, you have to do your own research on how cannabinoids work. You can't find studies online that prove "cannabis cures this, and cannabis cures that", because information on cannabis research is highly supressed.
