? Most of them are just professional pan handlers.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56112663

... preying on gullible people. I find it interesting that this woman uses prayer as a "fall-back" to giving money, considering that prayer should be the first response of a Christian. Also, I also find it interesting that the woman announces that she's going to pray for people as well as give them money; Jesus says that when you do your alms-giving (or charity work, which includes praying for someone), you don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (meaning that you give and pray anonymously). Jesus tells us that those who announce their alms-giving have no further reward than that of pride and self-satisfaction. Maybe something to think about in this Christian self-flagellation thread.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61054110

Actually, I pray FIRST for all of them when I see them on the street. I don't know what their situations are.

I have lived here long enough to see and know some of their familiar faces.... people with no legs in wheelchairs or on crutches in 90+ degree heat, people holding signs describing their infliction or desperate state... these are people who most likely don't have what you have... like a pair of legs, food to eat, a home, or a job....

You are quick to acuse me of much. If your creator could look at you and your life, what would be said about you? "Christian self-flagellation" you state? Yes! You bet! Why?...because we have been given the gift of awareness from God, and humbly and gratefully accepted it. Awareness that there is a God...that his son, Jesus Christ, came down to earth to die for our sins... so that we may have eternal life. That simple!...

Because we Christians believe this, we call upon each other to help each other stay on the path we have chosen. It is a very narrow path. Maybe you cannot understand this at all, as you have may have chosen an unaware path....a path that is earthly, and not spiritual. That simple!...

We are happy on our path. We join together and rejoice about our path. We are so happy about our path, we want others to feel the joy we feel. We do not want to bother you or change the path you have chosen for yourself. Please do not bother us. Live in peace and do not bash us on our religitard threads. Release your anger on other threads to get the rise and the fight you desire....

We wish only peace and love to you. Seriously. That simple!

Interesting story. On the other hand.... Jesus also said to the rich man, "give away all that you have to the poor and follow me." Has that Pastor done so? My bet is that he drives a pretty nice car....
 Quoting: Evil Cretin Heretic

That's not exactly what Christ said, as he wants you to live the abundant life...

John 10:10 "....I come not only that you have life, but you have it more abundantly." - Jesus Christ

Your pastor should live well, else how is he going to tell you how to live an abundant life?

I want my pastor to be a man of wealth and influence, not a guy whose car is broken down weekly and his home in foreclosure. How can he bring the word directly from the mouth of God if he's not worry free and clear of thought?

Most who accuse pastors of living too well have no clue about the biblical principal of tithing and sacrifice (Malachi 3:8-12). God doesn't want his people living in poverty, as we are Kings and Priests in the earth(Revelation 1:6), who can put a demand on our inheritance. How can we sow into his church if we are destitute? How can we help anyone, if we are poor and destitute? The pastor of a church is the forerunner of that church as he must first live out, and have faith in, what he teaches in the church.

One can't teach Christ's plan for an abundant life, if one hasn't live

This pastor's homeless man pretense is a good lesson to those who follow after Christ and are devoid of compassion and understanding for the poor.

James 2:14-17 14What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

If one lives in faith and deed, wet is going to come with the water. Christ told us in Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Many have accepted without question what they have heard, read or were taught throughout their lives about Christ and the teachings He brought. These same people usually vigorously defend their beliefs while feeling no need to examine proof of why they believe what they do—or to consider how they came to such beliefs. Human nature follows the crowd, which follows what is popular.

This has been the case with virtually every one of the widely accepted teachings, traditions and practices of mainstream Christianity. Few are aware—or even care—that these have been taken almost entirely from paganism, false customs and human reasoning—and not from the Bible. Most of the teachings of Christendom have no biblical basis whatsoever—and in many cases Jesus actually commands the exact opposite!

Thus, the Jesus Christ of the Bible has been left out of professing Christianity—unknown to vast millions, hidden in a cloud of deceit, confusion, lies and commonly accepted falsehoods. SNIP....

and, from Ch. 20
More than two billion people claim to worship the God of the Bible and to be followers of Jesus Christ. They worship in divided, competing churches, religious organizations, denominations, groups and movements of varying beliefs, governments and traditions.

Yet Christ said His Church would be a “little flock” (Luke 12:32)—undivided, “perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (I Cor. 1:10)—in “one accord” (Acts 2:46), continuing “steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine [teaching] and fellowship” (vs. 42)—all speaking the same thing, just as the first-century Church had done.

But today’s professing Christians are divided by doctrine, which is why they do not—and cannot—walk together (Amos 3:3). How can so many churches and their adherents say they are Christian, yet teach opposing beliefs and traditions? Why are so few willing to ask what is wrong?

I believe there is the One,True God and his son, Jesus. I believe we should treat others as we want to be treated,to know that we're all one, etc..

A 10-tissue thread.

More and more pastors need to do something like this. Really put it into the faces of their congregations that they have been so far removed from the actual teachings of Jesus and the gospel of the coming kingdom of God. Many pastors are at fault for allowing this apostasy, but some are starting to wake up ...

So he went to a 10000 person church and walked around in the place and was being all nasty and shit?

Yes?

Guy didn't even have the common decency to freshen up, tells more about him than about the 10000 strong apostate church.
Real homeless freshen up if they go to church, no really they do.

Also anyone that has been in this long enough knows that a 10000 strong church is a social hall not a proper church.

Do people actually think a pastor has time to care for the needs of 10000? Nah he's there for the money like the rest of them, this is a smart stunt to shame these 10000 to give more money-

Bet they all read the Alexandrian "bibles".

Re: ***PASTOR dresses up as homeless man and SHOCKS the church members!! A MUST READ***
This is my experience of every Christian I have ever known or spoken to. Judgemental, damning, unfriendly to those with different values or circumstances.

This Pastor knows what false Christians these people are.

I don't believe in god and have spoken to homeless people, I would not give the money as Id be scared if was to be spent on drugs. Instead I go to the local sandwich shop and buy them food. I don't do this because I believe in your god based on Egyptian gods, I do it because I think it is the right thing to do.

Its interesting, I once asked a friend who was training to be a priest. If I lived following the commandments, but did not believe in god or Jesus would I go to heaven? The answer was an unequivocal "No". Thankfully I don't believe in heaven either.

The God of Noah is not the god of the Egyptians.

Might want to read a book on it.

A more immediate result of these operations will be the increased use of military forces, weaponry, and equipment such as tanks and armored personnel carriers in civilian law enforcement, the suspension or elimination of Habeas Corpus, the elimination of jury trials, the attempted disarming of the American People, and the institution of martial law with show-trials conducted by a tribunal of judges. - William Cooper 1997 (RIP)

I live just outside of DC in MD. I cannot tell you how many people I see every day begging. I give when I can, but there are so many on the street corners, it would be impossible to give all the time. Sometimes, I have opened my car window and appologized for not having any cash, and told them that I would pray for them. Most of them thank me for praying.

Please people, give when you can to those on the streets. Tell them you will pray for them. Then pray for them.

That church in Tennessee ain't that big. Believe there are churches here that run homeless shelters. The guys like me either volunteer or bring food or whatever they need.

Actually I need to do that now....running behind

ARE YOU IN THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST?

TISSUES AT THE READY!!

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning.

He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him.

He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.

He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back.

He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such.

When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation.

“We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.

The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with all eyes on him.

He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited,

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

This is a great post. I have been a volunteer pastor for many years and the fact that materialism is now superior to Christ's teachings is disgraceful!

Interesting story. On the other hand.... Jesus also said to the rich man, "give away all that you have to the poor and follow me." Has that Pastor done so? My bet is that he drives a pretty nice car....

Re: ***PASTOR dresses up as homeless man and SHOCKS the church members!! A MUST READ***
This post may be one of the most timely on all of the internet. As a volunteer Pastor, I have major issues with those who say they love Christ yet live as hypocrites. Christ said clearly in Matthew 25 that our eternal souls will be judged based on whether or not we have fed the hungry, clothed the naked and visited those in prison. In other words, being indifferent to a person in ragged clothes, homeless folks etc...is one sure way to keep yourself out of God's graces and from heaven.

The Pastor that dressed up as a homeless person proved a great point and further substantiated my long held belief that Religion is to faith what humidity is to air, stuffy and oppressive!

Once again, great post and remember, a smile is one of the few things you can give away yet still keep, so, if you see someone without a smile, give them yours! angel3
