He appears to have been a classic Narcissistic Personality type ... and those types are all about themselves. IF thing are not going their way those types will destroy anyone around them IF they are going down. (think Hitler's wishing death and destruction upon the German people, saying THEY deserved it, as he himself was going down and realized it, at the end of the war)
