I cannot imagine how a child of 10 years old could be abandoned to suffer alone.

This is a truly sad story. Not just are those people becoming infected themselves by standing in such close proximity, but the fact they can just pass by a suffering child is horrible. Give that kid some bread and water at least FFS

edit: if he is actually infected with ebola, those people are doomed

It just breaks my heart to see this young child sitting on a bucket with people staring at him all alone.

I have a 4 year old Grandson that I would give my life for. I cannot imagine his fear, terror and ISOLATION.

God Bless his heart and soul.

I wouldn't leave his side if I saw him, even if it meant my own death. It's a child FFS. If we, as humans, are this cruel we don't deserve a happy ending anyway.

The ignorance pisses me off. The article says he was one of the patients in the clinic that the mob released. If they would not have done that he would be receiving treatment. Now look where their superstition and ignorance have gotten them. This is a travesty. That poor child doesn't know any better, but the adults are to blame.

I do not know the full story, but it seems most of his family in West Point, Liberia has already died from Ebola.

I truly feel in my heart that if it came to America; we could control it better than Africa, but I still do not get any relief at the moment looking at these poor orphans.

Stay safe and pray or give blessings to all these orphans.

It is almost impossible to comprehend, such suffering in a child. And it is so common in Africa - and SE Asia as well.

It feels to me as though once it ends on this planet, there has to be some kind of explanation, and it makes me believe in heaven. Surely they get better than this and it's not the end.

Please.

Thank you for posting this story OP. It's not easy to do that.

Next life . . .

It's very heart wrenching to see....I do think the people around him are attempting to help him but they are so under educated and so fearful........it's all so pathetic and sad.....

If you did that and it meant that you contracted it and than spread it to someone else which than eventually spread to everyone else on earth thereby ending the human race, would you still do it?

This is soooo sad--those pictures are utterly heartwrenching.
However, I imagine the child does have ebola. Since he was in the care center for ebola, it would seem very possible that he caught it there even if his original reason for being there was not ebola.

This is terrible. I can't even imagine how horrifying his plight is as he sits naked and sick and people just watch. It says they stripped him.

Thank God that one man at least laid a little cover over him, but he is laying by himself on a piece of cardboard. My God, that is just horrible.

Well, they are doomed if it is airborne. But, things keep changing. Now do they think you can catch it airborne or do they have to touch him?

Now, I understand why--in some of those old stories--people would go ahead and let themselves be exposed to a disease because they just could not let loved ones suffer alone even though they knew they were taking a chance. That picture of that little boy--there are not words.

If the boys coughs or sneezes, then the air around him has Ebola floating in it. Even the CDC admits that one can get Ebola by being in close proximity to someone with Ebola.

His mother had died at the facility, and his aunt fled after the "liberation". Those people don't know what to do. They don't know anything about Ebola other than contact can spread it. It looks like they want to help, but dont know how, and dont want to get infected and put their own families in danger (hence why this poor child is sleeping outdoors!).

My heart goes out to this baby. He may be 10, but he's still just a baby... I wish someone can give this child a hug... but I know no one can in their right mind...Breaks my heart.
