Pelosi had water shut off to San Joaquin Valley for sake of an invasive bait fish and a rodent that lives in wetlands...both indicators species for choice biofuel feedstocks (delta smelt for algae, marsh mouse for salicornia).

Pelosi's son Paul Pelosi, Jr. has a leadership role at NASA Ames Lab in Bay Area...one of nation's leading biofuel labs.

First DoE Sec. for Obama, Steven Chu, was a Bay Area biofuel proponent.

Silicon Valley billionaires have publicly stated they want the Bay Area to be Saudi Arabia of alternative energy.

When the Occupy Wall Street tards first got national attention, they released a list of 10 demands- one of the ten was to destroy dams and restore wetlands (pretty random for a group protesting Wall Street bailouts).

Invasive bait Fish? What? The delta smelt is native. Farmers in the central valley have fucked up the ecosystem, bringing many fish to extinction. The thicktail chub fish, was once the most abundant fish in the Sacramento river, and now it is gone, it was fished so heavily and the dikes and water diversions destroyed its habitat. No farmer or anybody should be allowed to destroy the environment for their profit even if they " got bills to pay." I agree we should undam all the rivers and restore fish habitat And rely on native drought resistant crops such as acorns and walnut for food

WHY?

I have to disagree with you Op....The drought here was caused by a blocking high over the west coast. This was due to the trough in the Midwest. As you can see in this graphic here....
