Re: Waking dreams - How to stay conscious while sleeping, control your dreams, and be aware.
Having enough sleep seems to be key. I don't actively do any practices to engage in lucidity . Lucidity came to me, fast and heavy, before I even knew what the term or concept was. However, as I have gotten older the natural tendency to become lucid has waned and have not experienced very many lucid dreams in the recent years.
I have noticed that two things seem to be key I becoming lucid and the first is having had an abundance of sleep....more than enough and never from a state of sleep deprivation.
The second is visualization. Basically allowing the mind to wander and observe images before sleeping and keeping that pesky inner voice silenced.
 Quoting: S ammie

I have lucid dreams seemingly without effort. my strategy is to try to AP from a lucid dream. I never seem to get to the point of free will in my dream though. it doesn't seem to last long enough among other things.

Good to see you here again SS-

Do you know of any techniques for interpreting symbols in either dream or waking life? I look them up sometimes, but I know they can mean different things for different people depending on the context of the symbol within the dream.

If you want the best way to know if you're dreaming, get up and jump on both feet and prepare to be shocked. Let me know your results if you can manage.

The only one who can interpret your dreams is YOURSELF. You must learn how to be lucid in dreams, awarae and conscious, and how to return to dreams you had to find their true meaning.

A great book on the topic is Conscious Dreaming by Robert Moss

Also get Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge

It will really help you.

It's a fascinating subject for sure. I dream every night and have some amazing detailed dreams, but I have yet to be lucid in one. There are a ton of books on the subject and the one I'm currently reading is Dreams of Awakening by Charles Morley. About half-way through and it's a great read.

Not only about lucid dreaming but also being lucid in 'real life'. How to wake up to the unreality of it all.

Great thread OP, very useful information. I have had great success with keeping a dream journal, only one lucid dream, but it was a doozie. It was the first time I flew!

I have two books by above authors.

What happened to Normal People is they got brainwashed like you to believe in what Those in Power tells you and to follow their Commands.

Some of the original real people are still alive and well and fighting for you to be free from the tyranny and slavery.

So be happy, smile, have fun.

Dreams are intended to be forgotten. The blending of dreams and reality is the start of insanity, beware.

does ejaculation effect lucid dreaming? have heard going a few weeks without sexual thoughts can lead to extremely intense dreams of a sexual nature resulting in fairly blown orgasms. are these types of unwanted dreams succubi haunts?
