As to OP topic, Im guessing the decision to delay is politically motivated in regards to electoral success, but then why are politicians so short sighted like that? he knew when the elections would be on ... why plan controversial policy changes for a time that could risk the election? I cant believe none of the whitehouse PR staff had any foresight in this before now? Nine weeks to go? noone realised this PR uncertainty months ago?

So maybe he did, and is, lying to the latino leaders about the entire thing. But why make such a promise in the first place if there is never an intention to follow thru? btw Im actually not against immigration, but amnesty for 5 million all at once? Im aghast that the idea is even being considered. Just wondering, are these 5 million ppl who have been in America for many years and are kinda 'permanent residents' .... or does it include anyone thats in the country when the bill passes, no matter how long or short their time has been in America?
