I've always felt the same way. I've never taken a flu shot. I've gotten the flu maybe a half dozen times in the past 20 years. I got the flu last year, though, and I'm in my sixties now, and it laid me out like never before.
I'm seriously considering taking it now. I don't EVEN want to go through ANYTHING like my last bout with the flu.
I'm not a nut about vaccines. I had every childhood disease that came down the pike except polio. I got THAT vaccine, but I got the measles, mumps, and chicken pox which my younger brothers who were vaccinated against them, never got. So I know vaccines work, though the flu vaccine seems to be hit or miss depending on what strains the filthy Chinese send our way.
I just may start taking the flu vaccine, even if it only provides a small chnce for immunity against whatever bug pops up.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62660609 I think that would be a good idea as you get older. This anti vaccine thing is funny. No one has ever explained how they kill your immune system or give you toxic amounts of metals. lol you breath more each day than the shots. Oh yea i never want shingles and will get that one as i age. my grandparents went through that like 20 years ago and that looks so terrible Quoting: usmcvet216 You are dumber than a box of rocks! No need explanations, I'm positive that you, inside yourself, you are agreeing totally with me! Quoting: Teutony 48477469 How dumb is a box of rocks? I hope you understand that medicine has increased lifespan in the last 100 years. washing your hands is the biggest thing to keep yourself healthy. Most Vaccines have been around for years and have prevented horrible diseases. The flu vaccine is given by the millions each year. It may affect some persons different but the overall effect works and has decreased death by Pneumonia/Flu greatly [ link to en.wikipedia.org] Prevention Prevention includes vaccination, environmental measures and appropriate treatment of other health problems.[11] It is believed that, if appropriate preventive measures were instituted globally, mortality among children could be reduced by 400,000; and, if proper treatment were universally available, childhood deaths could be decreased by another 600,000.[13] Please explain your side instead of the your dumb response.
