Well, I work at a hospital and we are required to take the shot by Nov 1st or be fired. They started giving the vaccine the first of the month. There have been no positive cases in my area this season. Immunity is most effective for six weeks after receiving the shot. For those who don't take the shot, they have to wear a mask for six months anytime they are in the hospital. They say it is for the employees protection, I say it is for punishment. One guy in our department refused to take the shot last year citing religious reasons. They advertised his position and watched him like a hawk everyday to make sure he had on his mask! The jerks.

In my opinion, there are two reasons they started this policy last year. 2 years ago no one took the shot and I think they had to throw away a lot of it away. I'm sure they saw this as a waste and got mad at the employees.

The other reason is all of you who don't get the vaccine, don't understand why you are so darn sick come flu season; go to the ER for the miracle cure which doesn't exist. Then all of the ER staff gets the flu! If you develop pneumonia or if you are still sick after a few days, etc., ok, then you may need to be hospitalized; but other than that, please stay away.

My point, if you don't take the shot, don't whine when you get sick, OK? And for God's sake, don't come to the ER for your Tamiflu. Stay at home and don't be infecting other people, alright? Your actions will effect other people including those people who are there to help the sick!
